I loved the graphical update option that we experienced in the Demo! I have been playing since Vanilla and I do not play the modern game. However, for whatever reason… when I logged into the Classic Demo for the first time… It was very nice to have the option to increase the graphics settings with my new computer. It made it feel more immersive and enjoyable. Anyone out there that is not okay with graphical improvements as an option… I think is silly…
A. You don’t have to use them.
B. They do not affect your experience or the games “authenticity” if you have them disabled.
C. No one likes BFA… including the people that want minor graphical updates to classic. So no… we won’t “go play BFA”. We will ask and ask again… because at the end of the day… we can do whatever we want.
Have at me.

In vanilla WoW the water offered a way to hide in PVP situations. The updated water allows players to see through the surface more easily. As a result, choosing the vanilla water puts players at a disadvantage. Since this is Classic WoW players should be encouraged to play the game in the way that it existed, not the opposite. So that seemed to be the main issue with updated graphics.
Also, the game already looks fine on the 1.12 client, especially on a higher resolution and refresh rate.

That will not be in the game.

The graphics toggle or the water issue?
I’m ok either way. I’m hoping for lower resource usage so I can sell my gaming laptop and play on a potato.

The ones that were in the demo… sure… bfa models and graphics… absolutely not

The original graphics are perfectly fine and highly preferred, in my opinion. They are less resource intensive and put less stress on your GPU and will allow the game to run more smoothly than the jerky lag-fest that is Retail WoW. The less data that has to be handled the better the world will be for stability purposes with the updated server infrastructure as well.

Why are you against the option to enable updated models with the default being the old models? How does this affect you if you will play with the old models?

if there is a toggle to place graphical settings all to low for those who wish to have wow look like it did 15 years ago, that would be a nice option. if this is not included, people can still manually place all the settings to low. to put even more of an authentic feel, players should be able to set lag at 300ms and fps at 30. I remember those days well.

Anyone doing some serious PVP are going to have nameplates on… come now. That water isn’t going to hide you.

Name plates don’t work as far away from u in classic as it does in retail.

No they don’t, but the guy was talking about using water to hide. If you’re at the point where you’re literally using water to hide from someone, you’re going to be within 20-30 yards, i.e. nameplate distance.
That’s a good hypothesis but it’s wrong.

It was 20y, in retail its 60y.
Because toggles do not work correctly for models and animations and have never worked correctly

Oh, nice… Didn’t know you were a Blizzard Employee and you know what they are capable of. Thanks for the insight.

I love these threads. “Graphic updates are fine and you’re wrong if you disagree.”
People spell out reasons already hashed a billion times that graphical updates are actually not fine and are not an authentic vanilla experience.
OP starts getting snippy and passive aggressive.
Verbatim. Every time.

And I said 20-30 yards did I not?

It doesn’t matter who is for or against anything. It’s not going to be in classic so there’s no need to discuss it
