Went to see if some addons I use got updated yet and I see this in my retail folder. It was made yesterday 6/28. Is this something I should be concerned with?
Hey, Gigaflare! A GPUCache folder shouldn’t be within the World of WarCraft folder. It’s possible this is related to Adobe if any Adobe products may have been opened recently.
Though, I’m not sure how it ended up in the World of WarCraft folder. I did find one external report of the same thing happening recently, which may be related to Telemetry and Adobe which may explain how. Since the Blizzard Application utilizes telemetry.
Just to test, the same way we reset UIs, renaming the GPUCache to GPUCache.Old and just launching World of WarCraft may be worth a try after closing Adobe and see if it reappears. Otherwise, just for security, running through security scans is advised.
Yeah, running virus and malware scans was the first thing I did and it was fine. Changed it to GPUCache.old, launched WoW and a new folder didn’t appear. Deleted the folder, launched the game and it’s fine. So, looks like it wasn’t anything bad but it’s not important either since I don’t have any Adobe.
not to necro an old thread but i also just nocited a gpucache folder in my retail i deleted it
this was a reply to caterpepi
I only play in Linux, since the BC expansion.
I don’t use any adobe stuff, since I’m in Linux.
I have a GPUCache folder, in my wow folder.
Stuff inside of it is dated:
11/16/2019
But it may have been when I hit something “adobe” in winetricks (to install windows *.dlls ), thinking it might be the reason why I could not buy a wow token in game (for 20 bucks, get the black screen in game, found out it is a linux bug related to the BlizzardBrowser.exe. )
AH FOUND IT: European Wow forum:
I noticed same “GPUcache” in my retail folder and made some testing. Apparently when you open in-game browser like shop or make a ticket it will create that folder and also some other folder like “Worl” was created to same games folder where my wow is. Some people report theres “Progra” folder in C-drive
I don’t have any Adobe products so thats not causing it like blue post claimed.

So that is why I have it, trying to open the in game shop to buy a token.
I know this is old. But the bluepost from the US forum is wrong. I’ve tested this myself and all the timestamps and everything checks out. These folders and files are indeed created when you click around in the ingame browser where you can find news and make tickets.
Of course, this would be AFTER the OP/Blizzard posters (since I believe this is the US forum thread they are referring to, found it when googling “wow gpucache folder” )
