Context is very important. No one believes your story because this one’s extremely easy to reproduce.
It’s possible Griefs is telling the truth but highly improbable. If you have a ton of activity, such as a city pvp raid, your system resource usage might hit 100% but that’s kinda rare these days.
That’s been my experience too. Most content won’t tax your GPU to full. There are edge cases (TM, raids, temple PVP) where the GPU does get bottle-necked but I can’t get much faster than 2080 TI right now so not much can be done.
You’re not wrong but of course that depends on the situation and your CPU scheduler. The new Linux scheduler is insanely fast but stability is needed before they make it live.
4k? 1440p? 1080p? Widescreen Setups?
Have tested at 1440p, 4K, and 3440x1440.
I built a ryzen system with these specs asrock mother board b450m, ryzen 5 2600 cpu over clocked to 4.1 stable, after market cooler CPU Cooler 120mm Addressable RGB PWM Fan with 4 Copper Heatpipes, GAMEMAX, five rgb fans, three on the front for Intake two exhaust, gpu is XFX RX 5700 Xt Thicc III Ultra 8GB Boost Up to 2025MHz GDDR6 3xDP HDMI Graphics Card, for ram I went with G.SKILL 16GB (2 x 8GB) Ripjaws V Series, drive wise I went with pcie-500gb and a sata lll ssd 500gb m.2 and a hdd 500gb on the back of the case, wireless card ASUS PCE-AC55BT B1 AC1200 Wireless Bluetooth 4.2 PCIe and EVGA 700 BR, 80+ Bronze 700W for power supply. That’s my pc spec.
My question is, do you think my cpu is bottleneck my gpu when running wow? my gpu is at 100% cpu never go over 45% I thought wow was a cpu depended game. I game on a 27inch 1440p 144hz monitor maxed setting but shadow on lowest setting no need for that to be maxed. I don’t lag playing dungeons at all or in any world or city at all. I’m curious to why my cpu is never even 50% usage i know my gpu is 100% because of the setting and screen resolution, can anyone tell me why is this? Thanx in advance
On my disc priest your either way ahead or way behind.
It depends on what you’re doing in the game. Sitting in org is different than a raid, TM or a 5 man dungeon. Your resource usage depends on what you do at that time.
Also, your cpu usage % is likely your total across all cores/threads, and wow isn’t going to use all those cores. Run something like MSI afterburner and see what your cpu usage is like on each individual core/thread.
No I don’t think he is a troll and I seem to have the same problem as him. My CPU is always around 20% unless I have 2 Wow windows open. The lowest my GPU ever goes is 95% usage. My CPU isn’t anything special averaging 4.2ghz, I have 32gb of 3200mhz ram, and an MSI Radeon 5600XT 6gb of VRAM. I would love to trade off a higher CPU or RAM usage for lower GPU but I don’t know how. I really don’t know why it’s this way and I’m wondering if my card is defective. It runs really hot!
Basically it depends if you are using msaa and higher resolutions.
My 3080 in towns will be around 50% at 1440p 10, with a 5ghz 8700k, fxaa only
With msaax8, it will peg the gpu very often to 80%+. With msaa8x and 150% render scale (4k) it will bounce off 100% most of the time.
With the 1080ti being much less powerful than the 3080, I could see it happening as griefs describes at 1440p+ and with some msaa enabled.
Of course there’s times the gpu is idling, but that’s usually when the game is not really responsive anyway and all your hardware is just going DURRRR with 100 people around you.
