GT 770 gave up the ghost after many great years. #respects

But on to greener pastures, was thinking about a 1050 since amazon has them for 130 atm.

It'd be paired with a i7 running with a 800 watt PS.

Thoughts or ideas? I'd love to hear them.
Depends. If that is what you're willing to spend and you don't want to dabble in the used markets then sure.

Otherwise a rx 570 isn't much more or if you prefer nvidia gtx 1050ti.
I can spend the extra, but I'd probably get a new board also.
Whole rig was built about 5 years or so ago when i was on a tight budget. Now though I can poke around and min/max. Only things I play though are blizz titles and a few steam games
A used 970 would probably be best for you. Can get one for around $100 and it’s about 50% faster than a 1050.
I would get a card that has a minimum of a 4GB vram buffer so either a RX 570 or 580 or a GTX 1050 ti or higher.
RX 570 will probably surpass 1050 TI if/when the 8.1 perf boosts happen.

I saw some $300 deals on GTX 1070s awhile back.
RX 570 is the best $/perf for new cards with your price range (~$150). It costs less than the GTX 1050 Ti 4GB and will obliterate it at 1080p in almost every title. It's actually equal to the GTX 1060 3GB and GTX 970 in terms of performance.

The only reason to consider the GTX 1050 is that many of them don't require PCI-e 6-pin power (so they're good for premade Dell/HP office PC's that people convert to gaming for cheap). But that shouldn't be a problem for you considering you have a GTX 770.

If you insist on staying team Green and want good $/perf, I'd look for a used GTX 970 or maybe a GTX 980 if you can get them cheap enough.

I got a RX 470 in my HTPC and that GPU beats the 1050 ti already. The 570 is basically the same card with a bit of a boost.

A GTX 970 is on par with a RX 570 or perhaps a hair better in power so finding used ones of those cards for less than a new RX 570 would be a great deal.
Update:
Found a 1070ti for 250 from one of my friends.
Decided to order a extra fan to pair along with it for the case. So I think I made out pretty well xD

Is the PCI-e 6 pin power an issue that can be overcome cheaply like some kind of adapter ? I only play WOW and it's on a 24 and 20 inch dell monitor so no 4k required. I was thinking a refurb hpz420 workstation with a xeon E1650 V2. Am I limited to a gtx1050 or can I go higher....was thinking the RX 570 as well.
@Righteousnub, My old pc used an adaptor for the extra video card power needs and didn't notice any issue.

You can find a good 500w psu for $40 with the proper connectors and get a better video card and not worry.

Had to change my toon....the computer in question that I ordered a refurb HP z420 comes with a 600W psu and all I needed was a 6 to 8 pin female adapter which I also ordered. Ended up getting a refurb rx 580 also so for playing WOW which is all I play I'm sitting really good. I'm currently on a alienware alpha r1 so I3 4130t , 8 gigs ram, hdd 250g, geforce 860m variant so a very significant upgrade for me under $500usd. =)
Reburb eh? might of been more advtangeous to save and buy something new later on. I hope it lasts longer than a month.

Me too.......but I'm really not worried as parts are dirt cheap to replace it with.

Dirt cheap doesn't always mean it's good though. Like the numerous 1080s that out there being refurbished that were probably used 24/7 during the mining craze.. Hell to the no......XD

My Advice is always spend $1200 - $1500 on some good hardware and have it last a long time! Don't buy cheap as$$ motherboards and power supplies that are no name fly by night companies.

LOL $1200 - 1500 for a computer to play WOW on......talk about a waste of money.

Usually those who are spending that much are playing more than wow but I think you're missing the larger picture, think of it this way. You won't have to upgrade components for 3 - 5 years. I call that money well spent

I have 2 other computers, the computer ordered in question is to play WOW on only. Still using my formerly $3000+ gaming laptop rig from 2012 which was able to play WOW until they removed full screen and killed SLI / Crossfire. It would have costed more to upgrade the gpu's than to buy another system which I did. Another big bonus of the refurb server is now I have a killer video/photo editing rig and a sublimation printer is in the future.

Microsoft / Dx12 is dictating this not Blizzard. I had two Geforce 980s which was working fine with wow in fullscreen windowed so I am not sure what your issues is there. Might want to check drivers!

Most games are headed in this direction anyway. I hope you had other games in mind for SLI/crossfire cause wow is really not a game that benefits from that much compared to other triple A titles.
