GPU temp 55c while gaming is this normal?

I have my settings set to “prefer max performance” on the NVidia settings. my GPU fans are set to Auto.

I have my graphics set to max mostly in everything… I’m using 3070ti. with RTX also on.

Is this behavior fine? My old 1080ti usually gets around 75c at least while playing WoW. or something in idle mode on this GPU since I just set it up?

Even while raiding I tested it in LFR its around 50c to 60c… Other games it works fine I tried Fifa22 and the temp went to 70 instantly while playing.

Is the GPU on idle or something while playing WoW?

Do you have a frame cap, Vsync, and/or Gsync/Freesync enabled? And what CPU do you have?

Yes. G-sync. is on. and 7700k cpu.

3070ti is a powerful card. WoW is ez on graphic cards.

Are your settings on 10 with raytracing on?

I guess my first question would be whether or not you have a new rig? PC cases will make or break your thermals and if you have a lot of airflow, then 55c on WoW is not abnormal.

However, what’s more likely is that WoW is not exactly GPU intensive in the way FIFA 22 is. WoW has a reputation for being quite the CPU resource hog. Combined with the power gap between GPU generations (20 series → 30 series → 40 series, etc. etc.) outpacing the demand of most modern games, a 3070ti sitting at 55c on WoW is par for the course. I have a 3080 that produces an excessive amount of heat and I sit at around 60c while playing. In fact, what it demonstrates more than anything is that you are probably underutilizing your card. What’s your resolution at? 3070ti and 3080 are somewhat the sweet spots for 1440p gaming with decent entry level 4k performance.

Im currently using ultrawide monitor 1440p .

Then I would say it’s just the fact that WoW is not very taxing on the 3070ti. That’s normal temps.

Your GPU isn’t being fully taxed relative to your CPU power. I have a 3070 “non TI” and a 9900k. I’m running a 4k monitor with 144hz. Even with my power limit OC’d to 111% my GPU is maxed out and my CPU hits 90% at most. My GPU reaches about 72C with a custom fan curve.

TLDR your next upgrade should be the CPU.

I have a 1660Ti and use high settings in WoW and at most mine gets to 50c.

WoW just isn’t hard on graphics, and it uses the CPU a lot more then other games. So if your CPU is decent, your video card doesn’t have to work that hard.

You’re acting like a lower temp is a bad thing or something, this is a good thing.

“GPUs tend to run hot when processing graphically intensive tasks like gaming. The ideal temperature for a GPU to run when under load is between 65–85° Celsius . But, if your GPU is running hotter than the 110° Celsius mark, your GPU is running too hot and is at risk of damaging itself or other PC components.”
