So I had problem before and ended up clean installing my PC to be sure it wasn’t anything on my end.
While playing WoW in full screen Windowed mode it will randomly freeze up (either just sitting around or especially say when I do certain things (example if you go back and do ICC25H Gunship, and the fight starts and you just fire the 1 charged shot to “win” the fight.) the game freezes up. Then the window restores down to a not full screen windowed mode after a few seconds. Then will play and do it again if I full screen up.
I’ve noticed if I leave it restored down when the issue occurs again the it can/does blue screen the PC. I’ve gotten a different error code each time.
After my fresh PC install the game ran fine no issue. Then today after the micro patch/hotfix it started again. I’m running Direct X 12 and nVidia EVGA 980 TI GPU on the 430.86 driver. Windows 10 Pro.
I double checked my performance monitors while playing and noticed when it happens the GPU usage spikes to 100% then dips down. I’ve played this game on Ultra (with a couple of anti-aliasing options turned done) with smooth above 30 frame rates.
I think it’s the nVidia Driver, but since the WoW patch maybe it’s that? Help?
For quick reference I put the game in Direct X 11 mode and so far no issue… but I I know that’s just a temp solution.
Update: Tried rolling back the display drivers to 430.63 still had the same issue. Game would hang for a bit then continue then eventually BSoD with the error PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA .
Though with WoW not running and left PC on over night. It never rebooted or BSoD’d at all.
