Anyone else notice that beginning today your GPU is running hotter than normal? I have an ASUS Strix 1080ti and prior today, with graphics settings on 6, my average temps in cities were 56-59, now they’re running 63-66c. I’ve checked to make sure my drivers are up to date, made sure there isn’t any dust or something blocking the air flow in the PC, just weird that suddenly temps are higher than normal.
Try dusting it off regularly
Running same 49-52C as usual.
Graphics setting 8.
Can of air in your fans will do wonders.
You should probably do this about once a week.
I said that I checked this.
Check internally as well. Dust gets inside the PC and it might be caked on your graphics card.
Other than that, attempt a full reboot and try running what you ran when you were getting your “normal” temps and see if it spikes again.
I’m talking about the actual gpu
Dude, “in the PC” means that I opened the box up and checked inside the PC. I can’t tell if you guys are trolling me or you didn’t actually read what I stated in the original post. Given this is the WoW community, I’m going to just assuming your trolling me to get under my skin.
Has the ambient temperature changed? Did you move the tower to a less ventalated position?
This sounds like you only checked the fans “going into the PC” and didn’t actually check inside the PC.
I don’t know your level of expertise or knowledge so I’m giving you the basics.
Or maybe I’m just giving you the standard A+ check-up. I could have started with “Have you tried turning it off and back on again?” but I figured we’d skip ahead a bit.
Well i’ve noticed that my GPU’s temp are near the 40’s or so in old world that rarely seen updates beyond cata. And that’s even putting on the raid graphics mode.
Of coarse, that’s probably most likely because i’m running at 75 fps as opposed to 60, higher FPS can lead to higher GPU temps.
No, i think what their trying to tell you is open up the PC, look side and give it a good ole deep dusting from CPU heatsink, to the GPU heatsink, to the inbetween the ram sticks, to the “floors” of the computer, and so on.
Me personally, i got myself a rechargeable air duster with a brush that helps me dust my computer off that way, as well anything else that requires that sort of precision.
Is your fps locked at 60?
higher fps is nice, but in this game is it really necessary?
I mean it could be the game, I haven’t noticed anything yet, running on a 3070.
Will need to find a way to test though, which could be hard.
Try disabling all add-ons, don’t know if add-ons affect GPU performance but worth a shot, also I don’t think 66 is that high for NVIDIA GPUs I’m P sure anything under 80 is acceptable
Higher FPS = More responsiveness. And this is an online multiplayer game.
One thing that caught me a bit by surprise is how much dust collects on the mesh door on the front of my case (Meshify 2 Compact).
I figured all the dust would blow past the front mesh and get caught by the filter behind the mesh instead, but what happens in reality is that the front mesh is effectively a second (or first) filter. I recently wiped that front mesh down and just as much dust came off it as came out of the filter. Between the two the caught dust was restricting airflow enough that post cleaning the tower runs noticeably more quietly.
OK so I’m not the only one experiencing this. I keep my lap top dust free and I have noticed a spike in CPU temperature lately.
I’ve run checks for malware and come up with nothing.
I wonder if it has to do with a windows update…
Not sure how factual it is but I just watched an old Linus video on that. They say to use you finger to make sure your fans don’t spin backwards while spraying or it could cause problems.
Yeah, it can build a charge if it spins too fast, which may cause issues. You can rotate the fins, just dont do it quicky.
Actually mine’s been running a little bit quieter than before… To be fair I think I skipped 3 driver updates
I have a 3060ti and noticed something similar around this past Tuesday. What i did was to change from dx12 to dx11. This worked for me, however your mileage. May vary.
