Just trying to get a general feel for those who actually got this boss in Torghast as to whether or not you were able to kill him. Anyone who hasn’t faced this one please do not answer with the general, “stack st abilities” or “get good” type of comment. This is to help assess this boss and help provide some feedback to possibly help the devs make proper adjustments
From what it looks like: his orbs are bugged causing him to absorb them even when killed.
His health pool is too large, ~760k, and takes so long to kill him that he gets the stacking buff and basically 2 shots you.
I went in with a 2s. Me as shadow and a shaman as resto. The closest we got to killing him was 28%. We burned all possible cds including lust and I had some decent luck with st abilities. We weren’t able to kill him and we are both over 170 ilevel.
I’ve heard hunters can kill him but that’s no surprise. If you have defeated him please give a strat as to how. If you didn’t defeat him off your experience.
Just soloed him as a frost mage, it took me 3 tries.
I had to burn him like crazy in the beginning and when he goes into immune mode move further ahead and kite him. I had to really time my mirror images I was able to pop it twice during the fight.
i fought him this week and had no trouble…im also a tank tho and in general torghast seems to be a lot easier for us. iv walked through all the layers so far without much resistance. the only hard boss so far was The Grand Maelleare which has a stacking buff that seems to be a dps check I struggled with as a tank. he hit insanely hard once it was stacked up past 10. took me 8 tries on 2 runs to kill him and I had to survive with 24 stacks on him to do it. granted this was in week 1 with really bad gear.
Goxul I simply bought up the stat buffs and anything that upped my dps and I killed him without really even having to react to much of his mechanics.
Edit. his orbs worked proper for me so it might of been a bug. I absorbed them without taking much damage from them and he might of ate 1 or 2 in the encounter which didn’t seem to make much of a difference.
I did it on Tuesday, with 150 ilvl and I didn’t even needed to heal…the other one, the eye boss, was so much harder than this.
Every time I see a paladin say a Torghast boss everyone is having trouble with is easy, they are always protection. That spec seems to have a much easier time, overall.

Well, they can heal themselves while doing ridiculous DPS in a version of Torghast that’s nerfed for them. It’s absurd.
I didn’t have any trouble. I had earth elemental and also healing totems to keep me alive.

187 fire mage… just got him (barely) on floor 2 (which is a cake walk typically)
I had to creatively use mirror images and then at my lowest hp point ( my health was buffed 3 times with 45% anima power - still almost died) i dropped a 5oul-trap (sl engineering) and froze him long enough to set up my combustion again. Not fun when then rest of the floor is cake and these bosses are all broccoli
the one time i’ve encountered him, he was impossible. 3 players, killing the orbs, still absorbed a massive barrier.
from what i could tell, he gets it from orbs AND players, so if youre in a party, you won’t beat him. however, one of his moves is possible to interrupt. if you can rotate interrupts, he might be defeatable. but, not everyone has an interrupt.
Fought him on lvl 7 and he was unkillable in a group of 5. We cleared all the orbs and he was still getting a massive shield. Either he’s bugged or the amount he is getting from a party of 5 is ridiculous.

Item level 163 and retro spec.
Fought him on level 2 solo and barely got him.
I had to use shields every time they cooled, and use my holy power for healing mostly. Kept kiting him around the room and using aoe attacks to smash orbs every time they popped up. Up until he became immune I stunned him with hand of justice every time he started drawing power off me. It didn’t stop his stacks from growing, but it saved me some damage. Being connected with the kyrian, I Have divine toll, which was a lifesaver with those orbs.
iLvl 170+ and 2s floor 4. his health was over 900k. we killed our orbs but will still get damaged. he’ll absorb still and we take alot of damage from that. then he’ll do a stomp to shatter our essences or whatever, spawning the orbs. That move does over 45percent, then he’ll absorb again… I can’t figure out what to do with this Goxul guy.
so, i’m not the only one that noticed. yep, goxul is busted. either bugged or straight up designed terribly. or both.

Today, post buff, he is damn-near bugged. He is at 980k health if I recall, and he can one-hit cloth.
I was finally able to “2man” this after getting repeatedly 1-shot. My monk tank was able to stay alive due to his anima mods, but as a priest healer, I was continually 1-shot. I was running in and out of range, attempting to get the orbs, but I was totally useless.
Post-buff, I feel like I should have been given an achievement of FoS for downing this guy.
I could have killed 2 at once on layer 7 on my Ret pally and I couldn’t even get it down below 30% on my spriest. The fight is near unbeatable for certain specs unless you get very specific powers, and a complete joke for others. Definitely a really really poorly designed boss overall.
I got him attempting level 7 last night and wasn’t able to beat him. I feel I could have done a better job at my attempt - but it was late, was doing this after work and I was too tired to think on it.
I think with better powers and a fresher mindset I might have a better shot. Last night I could only get him down to around 35-40%.
Yes I was able to kill him, I hit enrage stacks but as a tank it didn’t matter. Lots of CC, interrupt, ect easy kill.
Drums, pots, extra things from the vendor, chains of ice, rolling the keyboard across my face.
I’m pretty sure I offed this guy before but on a lower level last week. On 7 last night it just wasn’t happening. Wasn’t my most shining moment either last night. I’ve thought about it and am going to try something a little different on him for my next attempt. I have a theory. ahem. Need to test it.
