Gouged Eye of N'Zoth

Hello, I know nobody will read this, if its read it wont matter because it wont be fixed anyways, but I feel so frustrated that I will post it anyways.

I have a Season 4 (Patch 8.3) BFA Wrist Hyperthread Wristwraps
I cleansed the corruption
I party synced to lower my lvl
I removed the enchant for a BFA enchant
I tryed naked
Equiped or unequiped
At a timewalking dungeon

and I can not use the Gouged Eye of N’Zoth on my Hyperthread Wristwraps

The Gouged Eye of N’Zoth should be able to be used in ALL BFA content, but is not, it suppoused to curretnly work with 8.3 season 4 items, but it does not.

Also, Meryl’s Conjured Refreshment is still not fixed.

Bump, it’s kinda Crap this thing is still in the game to be purchased if it’s just going to be broken. Still don’t seem to work on anything 26JAN2022

Someone did bring up this, which is pretty half-arsed on the part of Blizzard:

Unable to Use Gouged Eye of N’Zoth On Item - Blizzard Support (battle.net)

" * Characters level 51 and higher will not be able to use a Gouged Eye of N’Zoth"

Not only does this piss poor system punish you for leveling past 50 if you did want a socket in a piece of BfA gear… BUT THEY FAIL TO EVEN MENTION IT ON THE EYE AND INSTEAD RELY ON A SUPPORT ARTICLE!

Its all: Nah, brah, you played Shadowlands, now run pugs for Ny’alotha for the next year and hope to win the lotto if you want that cool trinket with a socket on it cause you leveled.

Maybe instead of a Lore Checker, they need a common sense checker.

I can confirm that these “only” work if you level 50. Seems pretty ridiculous that you are not only punished for leveling, but this fact is also hidden. So if you have anything BfA you hope to socket, do it before leveling to 51 until developers quit being assinine.

Also I suspect that the item HAS to have been dropped for you personally while you were level 50, as I could not socket a ring I wanted to socket… which was traded to me. Dumb.

How is it being asinine? It is how the game was coded and that is the functionality. When the item came out, you could not level above 50, and it was meant to be used at that time.

Are you serious? You are literally penalized for leveling… again. Again, punished for leveling! Would it make sense if you couldn’t craft things that you could craft at a previous expansion, or do old quests

Kinda like those days when you got punished in rep grinds because you leveled. Of coarse, they changed that when people finally decided to grind rep cause “achievements”.

I’m pretty sure we’ve leveled WAY past the max level you could use this one. And we used the hell out of them at the time. Not so much in WoD. It does the same thing, except ilvl restricted (hey, like the Gauged Eye is content restricted already). But no problems. And also for 1 piece of armor.

Again, although at one point, you had to be between a specific level range in order to use it. It took until this recently in order to fix that. I’m pretty sure we’ve leveled past when you would think it was “intended” to be used.

And let’s add, that above in both, neither had their restrictions hidden in “support articles”.

This complaint has also come up concerning Legion content that is no longer available (ie dungeon finder) after leveling up to 46. A lot of people who didn’t realize they were going to be locked out of completing their class hall because of these unannounced restrictions have posted complaints.

Atleast with dungeon finder, you can level to 60 and go back and murder the old stuff. Or, in one case, I joined with a lvl 40-ish and had him queue me up. Sometimes I often help run guildies or pure random strangers through Shrine of the Storms and Mechagon. Yes, kinda goofy, but atleast there were “work arounds” in place.

In this case, you are PERMA locked out from using this item that is still sold to you while above level 51 with no “restrictions” listed. You can even use it, and it tells you that you “cannot add anymore sockets” to an item that “should” qualify. Nothing about it being unusable. Unless you sell it back in time, you are out hours worth of work that could have been wasted on a mount or tmog you could care little about.

It makes as much sense as when you are restricted from socketing previous seasons item, that you could have socketed before, because it is a “new season”.
