Aren’t I suppose to get a keyring now that I have a key?
I do remember having a keyring in 2005. Its just a small bag that only keys go into. Maybe Blizzard flubbed.

I have never been good at keeping up what was on patch 1.xx but I can tell you keyrings didn’t come around for a while after I had already gotten keys in vanilla
Accurate. You had to ensure you had the key for the instance you were approaching out of the bank, or it was a long walk/ride to go get it. Keyrings came later.
According to Gamepedia it was added in Patch 1.11.0 (2006-06-20).

They said keyrings would come later. I believe phase 2. For now its in your bags.

They got rid of keys right after I paid whatever it was to get the key to Scholo. That key was still fairly expensive at the time. My group is barely able to train even with skinning everything we can, picking the flowers and mining. (We’re level 8ish. Just started yesterday.) I’m dreading the day we’ll need that key!
