They love effing over the class, which exactly WHY they would do it
Gosh I wish this was real. It would be so cool âŠ
Sadly I donât think they would do it. Druid was an exception because feral
Used to include both cat and bear form and they had a very functional reason to split it.
Evoker is going to get our tank spec is what itâs looking like. And theyâll probably call it earth warder too lol.
No existing class has the built in lore, class fantasy, existing talents/spells, etc. to add a tank like Shaman does.
I understand people keep saying Blizz wonât. And they probably wonât. Evoker will probably get itâŠbut My god would I love it and play it.
Being a tank/ranged dps/healer in one class is my dream given those are my 3 fav roles yet only have time to really only play one character these days.
A man can dream =)
I do understand you in the past have said that you wouldnât replace any spec to make a tank so it would be a 4th spec. I hate that blizzard is so stubborn that they refuse absoluty refuse to give us a tank spec when we have asked for it for so long.
I would probably down a few cup of coffee and pour one out if this comes to pass. I know I havenât tanked on my shaman since Wailing Caverns was current content in Classic, but it was definitely one of those things where it was cool that the shaman was an alright alternative in a pinch.
Earth Elemental has kind of taken this role since then, and certainly done a hell of a job of respectably doing so. But it would be nice if we could go full Titanfall and mecha-pilot an Elemental in a full Earth Warder tank spec.
Desperate Modicum- Prerequisite Earth Elemental Totem Talent
Cooldown: 4 min. Taking lethal damage will instead force the caster to enter Ascendance, desperately inhabiting the body of an earth elemental. While in this state, shield damage taken will drain mana.
Agreed. So many options. Give us a perma earth shield talent (with DR) on line 1 or 2 of the spec tree. And would be so much fun. Gust of wind (like heroic leap), self healing via HST. Between enhance tool kit and the resto / defensive abilities, so much of the spec is âdoneâ.
Fun to dream.
Thereâs so many cool options here. Pull from Earth and Water themes. Compressed Water Shield / Bulwark, Swampwater CC for kitingâŠ
Combos would be dope too. Put a Tremor totem in a Swampwater CC for pulsing AoE dmg, ahhh the possibilities
Give em earth shock and earth quake! I know theyâre elementalâs spenders, but they can function differently while in this spec (sorta how like Elemental Blast functions differently in Ele/Enh)
You could even have Earth Shock just work as your 8 sec cd standard taunt while in this spec. Earthquake could be a guaranteed stun with no damage.
Basically leave the damaging aspect of both of these as Elementalâs thing.
Asking for years, it would be so cool if they did add a tank spec. But Blizzard often donât listen to fun requests.
Would be interesting to see a shaman tank.
Ill go play tank with my vanilla enh shaman in ragefire chasm meanwhile
Bumping to keep alive, very creative I like it!
Will blizzard ever do it though? I doubt it. Sadly
When they are good and ready! âŠprobably? Haha
Hell, Iâd love to dual wield shields and just slam enemies, would be a fun and unique tank. LESSS GOOOOO
Imagine walking into the war room filled with all the other tanks and the Paladins and Warriors go big eyed when they see this stud of a shaman with a shield on both arms. Their luscious locks flowing behind them as they strut, on this absolute chad of a tank is the tattoo âTrain the blueâ.
I approve this thread
What would be the primary stat for the Shaman tank? Would it be intellect to keep the item stats on shields the same, or would it be Agility to make it more friendly with the other Agility based tanks?
Not sure if it would be too much design space issues, but what about branching it out a bit talent wise to include options for dual-wield, two hander and weapon and shield to really make the most of the variety of equipment that shaman has access to.
I think, in regards to stats, we already have shields that morph between Str and Int for paladins. Why then couldnât they have them morph between Str and Int and Agi for the classes that all would be using them?
As for branching out between dual-wield and 2handers â I wanted to keep it a 1h and shield because no spec currently uses those to do dps â leave dual-wield an Enhance thing.
2h could work, but then I feel you are starting to encroach on Death Knight territory visually. That said, there are a lot of cool 2hs that just never get used â and Shaman could share between Druid and Monk staves for tanking.
I just like the idea of a shaman utilizing all the elements to get a bit of each tanking stat, rather then focusing on one like the other tanks: Block, Crit Block, Parry, Dodge. I like the idea of cycling through elements to gain all of them and adjust as each element passes through you: a jack of all trades for tanking stats â it can use all of them to a decent degree of strength, but no one is really better than the other.
But that was just my vision â you could easily adapt to make a tank spec that runs off 2h or dual-wield, just wasnât my intention here.
Iâm biased but I prefer the 1H + Shield combo for Shaman. There are only 2 Shield tanks now compared to 4 without and I have a biased favoring of shield for âtanksâ. Plus it would be cool to have a earth related shield weapon enhance (maybe a period self-buff to Earth Shield dmg reduction or something).
I tend to envision this being similar to a prot pally with elemental shields and decent self-healing via hst/earth-shield and some sort of healing surge buff by # of earth shield charges consumed (i.e. at 5 charges consumed, healing surge is instant) etc.
Let us keep Earth Ele as a Stam Buff. Earthquake is our AoE.
Itâs a shame they didnât split Enhance back in the day like they did with druid (feral/bear). Would be cool to have a hybrid caster style tank.
What is an example of a Shaman tank spec in lore? Resto has Rehgar, Enh has Thrall, Ele has like almost every other Shaman.
None that I know of â but like Paladins and Druids, shaman could tank in vanilla â Paladin and Druid were given support for it, while shaman was not.
Many feel salty about this.
