Hi, fellow Warlocks (or macro professionals)! I have tried several times to create this macro myself with no luck. Here is the use case.
As a PvPer, I find it helpful to sometimes start with the Succubus to get that first CC off, and then swap to the Felhunter.
I have a separate keybind for Fel Domination, but my GoSac macro just checks if there is a minion and if so, casts GoSac otherwise it casts Summon Felhunter. This works fine for a Fel Domination –> Summon Felhunter –> GoSac, but if I have a minion out it obviously doesn’t function how I want.
I know for Druid you can make macros that check what Stance/Form you are in and if it’s not what you want, it’ll cast the Form and then whatever ability you want (i.e. Convoke). Do Warlock minions have “numbers”? Like is the Felhunter “pet=3” or something? The macro I have now, again with Fel Domination on a separate keybind, is:
#showtooltip
/cast [pet] Grimoire of Sacrifice; Summon Felhunter
I feel like I need that to be “pet=?” to ensure I have the right minion out. Any help here would be very much apprecaited!
Why are you running Sac at all when the other talent option is significantly better?
#showtooltip summon felhunter
/cast fel domination
/cast summon felhunter
Press this with succubus out and it’ll instantly summon your felhunter. If domination is on cooldown it will still summon it, just with a cast time.
This may be true for PvE, but all I do is PvP. Getting the rare double interrupt with Havoc and your focus target is amazing. Not to mention it sucks when your Felhunter is CCd or killed and you have no interrupt. This is why I like to start with the Succubus (esp against Rogues and Mages) to then quickly swap to the Felhunter.
I guess I could put Fel Domination into the macro and move the GoSac keybind to where it was, but that would take a LONG time to adjust to since I’ve played with this setup for so long!
Depends whether you value an occasional double interrupt or a flat 3% boost to your damage. Most players tend to opt for the damage boost.
I see your point, but I also have the experience of everyone killing my Felhunter in PvP, so GoSac is quite useful.
Also, I figured out the macro. I have Fel Domination on it’s own keybind and this macro will allow me to instantly swap to the Felhunter and then turn the second press is GoSac (unless the Felhunter is already out, and then it just casts GoSac):
#showtooltip
/cast [nopet] Summon Felhunter; [pet:Voidwalker] Summon Felhunter; [pet:Succubus] Summon Felhunter; [pet:Imp] Summon Felhunter; [pet:Felhunter] Grimoire of Sacrifice

In an Epic BG for example I usually just keep my Felhunter on passive, Spell Lock has a 40 yard range after all and it keeps it alive and out of the melee zergfest while providing 3% damage to me. Also means I can interrupt while I’m CC’d compared to GoSac.

I fully appreciate the benefit of being able to Interrupt while in CC: no other Class in the game can do that and it’s awesome (unless you count the staggered effect of Chimaeral Sting).
However the converse is true: if the Felhunter get’s stuck in CC (random Ice Trap, Binding Shot, Blinding Light, Psychic Scream, Howl of Terror, Intimidating Shout, etc.) while I am not, it feels truly awful to not be able to Interrupt.
I guess I also just like the Warlock feel of sacrificing my minion to gain power! Not to mention my FAVORITE thing about Spell Lock when I cast it instead of the Felhunter: if a Warrior has Spell Reflect up or a Mage has stolen my Nether Ward, casting Spell Lock into those abilities triggers Precognition.
Is that a niche situation? Yes, but it’s kind of cool, especially given how often Warriors think Warlocks are easy targets. Since I typically do random non-epic BGs, Brawls, and BGB it is not uncommon to be stuck alone or nearly alone with a Warrior so this can be very useful.
