If something ruins classic servers, it's not the private server community, not the nochangers, not retail tourists, but...
those that find it fun that the game is so difficult, and want to make it even more difficult for others by trolling anyone who asks for help.
I mean, that "google it" attitude. People who will say "solo it" in response to any "need help with xxx", and those who will say "read quest text" in response to "where to go on xxx", and so on.
I mean, if someone is begging for gold on /w or /s, it can be annoying. But if you don't want to hear people asking for help with a quest, you can simply /leave 1. So, it is intentional.

Meanwhile the answer is already there if they actually read the quest text and they can find the answer faster than asking and waiting for the answer.

That happened in Vanilla too. Except it wasn't "Google it", it was "thottbot it".
People have been jerks in WoW since the beginning, and Classic isn't going to change that.

Yeah I always found that attitude annoying. God forbid people engage other players around them instead of silently playing the game alone.
That said, it's not going to ruin the game, vanilla was like that, and it was fine.

Agreed. Itβs just plain rude to have this attitude unless someone is completely hopeless at the game.

Yeah, even back in Classic the answer was always "check Thottbot." Today it will be "check Wowhead."
I agree with this to an extent, but also think there's a lot of people who just want everyone else to play the game for them, including looking things up for them outside of game so they don't have to.11/07/2018 08:50 AMPosted by WindfuryYeah I always found that attitude annoying. You can usually tell them apart however. There's a difference between "where are these mobs?" and "quest text says head southwest, but I'm still not seeing the mobs I need. Help?". The latter is worth helping. The former needs to try playing the game, or at least conveying the fact that they've tried.

Yeah that's true, but I think the better answer to the latter is silence. People are quick to jump straight to the rudest answer possible.

Those merely looking to be spoonfed the correct answer don't deserve a real answer. Show some self sufficiency and you'll get better answers.

The latter is worth helping for the effort I've made before asking. The former needs to try playing the game, or at least conveying the fact that they've tried. If you still behave this way, you land on global blacklist as you would behave the same way when it comes to loot in raids - "if you want that item, make your own raid"

yes, so I've read the quest text 4 times, been looking for them for hours, finally I ask "anyone knows where are they?" and you give me "read quest text". That's just lack of respect for my effort. If you knew where the mobs were, you would've known that quest text is not enough.
And, such behavoir will get you blacklisted by the guilds - if you behave this way when it comes to people needing quests, you will behave the same way when it comes to people needing loot.

Not really. Moreso, if I'm questing and I see a certain name ask a question I'll personally answer correctly. However, if the name pops up again 10 minutes later asking another question about their next quest and none of these questions show any effort in reading quest text I'm much less likely to give a good answer. At that point I'm going to assume the individual is too lazy to read and wants to be spoonfed a quick and dirty answer to tell them where to go.

I'm going to be in a mindset like my character would be. Priest? Help everyone I possibly can. Rogue? Take that chest that guy is fighting towards. Warlock? Probably lie or cause trouble (within the rules of course) for everyone.
So only ask about stuff if I'm playing a "good guy" class lol.

no, it's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about people showing complete disrespect to questions asked on /1. I mean, if there is one person constantly asking questions, you can /ignore them. If there are too many people asking questions, you can /leave 1. Nobody will search for you on /who to /w you questions about the game. So, you can just leave the chat, or stop looking at it, and nothing bad will happen.

good luck rerolling after every kick for ninjalooting
Druid? Don't attack other druids, even on BG, always help other druids, and don't do any hunting quests (aka Nesignewary in STV)
Oh I wouldn't take my rogue "roleplay" so far as to ninja loot. It would just be small things mostly like trying to charge people for help with their quest, pickpocketing enemies others are fighting (maybe helping maybe not), charging people to gank a ganker, ect.

I do give out the answers and lend a helping hand, to those who ask, HOWEVER I do find it annoying, when the same questions are asked REPEATEDLY, when they were already answered. For example, the availability of the Demo, the Trainers, why Hunter Pets turn on them, Mankrik's Wife, etc., like seriously?

This. Especially if it's something simple that I know was well-stated in the quest text. I don't mind helping out on really obscure stuff but when the quest text says "at Saldean's Farm to the north" or something similar I'm probably not going to stop what I'm doing to point someone in the right direction.
Well you have youtube now... We didnt have those resources back in the day.
Here's why GOOGLE IT makes sense/is the answer. Ready for this? THE GAME CAME OUT IN 2005. It's 13ish years old. ALL THE CONTENT HAS BEEN EXPERIENCED ALREADY. Everything has been min/maxed to PEAK efficency from leveling to grinding rep to raiding to pets to classes to dps to < input thing here >. 1-one-uno-ein google search will tell you ALL information on vanilla. Not some-ALLLLLLLL of it. There's' nothing NEW, its all OLD and NOSTALGIC. I do not want to be rude, but these forums are laced with people going into this wanting the "VANILLA EXPERIENCE" but you can't get that YOU CAN'T. Why? Because this is CLASSIC, its something you've already done and has been done over and over again for THIRTEEN YEARS-13!!!!! All questions you need answered are 1 google search away from BEING answered.
So, thats why people tell you to google it.

Addons like Questie have also dumbed people down to retail levels.
The standard response in private servers to anyone having a quest problem is to download Questie. It will be the same in Classic.
!@#$ like that is witnessing community interactions go down the toilet in real time.

I find no reason to complain about that. Yes, it has already been answered 100 times, but 99 times the answer was wrong.
