Google hacked?

I saw on my news app, that hackers got access to passwords + 2fa? is this true, should i be worrying about my gmail accounts?

this should probably go in the tech forum, but yes. i got an alert from my credit monitoring service that my primary gmail password along with some other info was compromised. i would change your passwords if you haven’t already.

I noticed Bing having some issues the other day. Maybe everyone is just having a bad time.

all the way back to google+ i felt like it was a bad idea lol

finally i’m vindicated and not just a weird paranoid freak

Everything gets hacked. Banks, hospitals, people taking your card info from fast food places, etc.

This article doesn’t even seem to confirm that Google was compromised or that any accounts were hacked, it seems to just be “I almost fell for a phishing scam and need to tell everyone about it.”

On the art forums I frequent there was an issue a few days ago with not letting people on the site saying there was a security issue and it was a google looking page that gave the alert

looks like this might be bigger than what we discussed over there :frowning:

yeah, that’s how I read it too. More about a AI phishing scam for gmail users then an actual hack per se.

So what’s really going on guys?

Reading the article from Forbes, it looks like Google itself wasn’t compromised.

It’s just a warning that there’s a new scam going around where they use an AI voice bot to make it seem like somebody from Google is calling you about a compromised account, then tricking you into giving them your account information.

Did you share your password with someone over the phone or a messaging app? If not, then you should be fine.

However, if it makes you sleep better tonight then change your password.

I’m surprised this works since literally everyone I know refuses to answer their phone unless they know the number.
