As an update (Vyanta), I was able to get back to Chrome, but not until I’d fixed the mess Windows 11 caused (with updates, I believe) that blue-screened me with the message “Your computer has run into an error and needs to restart. We will restart for you.”
WAITING
After no restart, I went to my wife’s rig, posted the above message just to see what would ding, and a lot of dings followed. I wasn’t the only one, it seems. with the “Restart” problem.
The only way (after trying to delete the Windows Updates to no avail) was to restart my machine with the loss of all files, which I eventually did. Luckily, I have a stand-alone hard drive which saved all but my photos, but those are stored in Photobucket, so no probs with that.
Ja, I tried “System Restore”, but W11 apparently doesn’t create their own, so I’ve been making some all along…
Curious if any of you have encountered this or any other W11 probs, and what you had to do to correct them.
Perfect timing. I have not visited the forums in a while, but I specifically popped into this forum to see if you posted anything. My daughter ran into a similar issue with her Windows computer; however, she could not get it restarted. Since it was under warranty, we took it in yesterday to be fixed. They had a slow day, and so we were able to pick it up in the evening.
In her case, the tech stated that the Window installation file somehow got corrupted.
As you know, I like to search for problems connecting to this version, so I guess I’m wondering how many other folks have W11 probs. Nice to see you again, BTW.
Out of curosity what problems did you run into? Haven’t had an update corrupt without it being my fault in someway.
Personally I have no problems with Windows 11, outside of the update being forced down my throat since I am on the Home edition. Would have made the jumped to Linux Mint if I didn’t have a few games that are strictly Windows only and has craptastic cheat detection where being on Linux = a ban.
I have no clue. There was an internet outage in our area because of a severe thunderstorm. The power never went off, though. When the internet was restored, she could not log back in. She did a system reset, but she was still unable to log back in. She told me about it, so we took it in to be repaired.
Aqyorius, I’m still not sure what happened and how I got that blue screen, except that I wanted to stop W11 from bring up the LAST place I visited - meaning, “stop this parade of addresses” running across my top address bar, making it necessary to delete every one of them singly.
Glad you have no problems, though, and thanks for the reply.
@ Vyan - Won’t probe it too much since there isn’t much to go off of, glad you were able to resolve it in a timely manner for no cost im hoping, outside of a days time.
@Jonas, sometimes its best you do a full system wipe and start over bar from any hardware issue like instability or storage drives going bad. Of course back up important things like videos/photos.
I was going to recommend you do the swap to Linux Mint or Ubuntu and try it out since its very similar to Windows, but if you follow things blindly you can do some harm to your OS. Drivers aren’t always as straight forward as well especially if you’re on Nvidia. Its not rocket science but it does require a little probing.
You’re right, Aquorius - I do tend to follow things “blindly”, and it’s why I go to Tom’s Hardware or here to get the best answers. And yes, I am on Nvidia. I guess I’ll just do the best I can and monitor my updates.
