Goodbye WoW You Were Fun

but $24AUD a month is insane.

12 years I played and had a blast. met some great friends, one of them even organised for me to do a tour of Blizz HQ through a friend when I visited the states.

I love this game but we have two subs in this household and $50 a month is just too much. If you ever introduce a family sub in the future to bring down the cost for households with multiple players I might come back.

But for now, Im going to jump on Invincible head to Grizzly Hills and log out my Paladin there.

Yes you can have my stuff, I have 1.5 million gold. First 3 people to send me a C.O.D in game mail requesting 500k saying “CAN I HAVE YOUR GOLD?” will get the 500k.

Thanks for the memories Blizz, I hope you look at making the game affordable again someday.

XOXOXOXOX

24 sounds insane.

But, you should hold onto your gold, if you ever want to play with your family you could always buy a token during a big patch or something.

Don’t worry. I’m sure the sub price will go back down once the AUD appreciates against the USD again…right?..right???

That’s a good point.

You could always stock up on tokens now and sell them later for greater profit or reactivate your account later, saving you a bit of cash.

Why not use that to pay for your subscription?

Definitely give that gold to your family so they can buy tokens to continue their own subs too! Stock up on tokens so it’s less of a burden when you come back.

Because it took me a long to make that gold.

Plus while I still like WoW, I no longer enjoy it. My wife rarely logs in and pretty sure she will be ending her sub when it expires in 6 months.

There is a lot of other games out there I would like to play and WoW is always there in the back of my mind, an addiction almost, where I feel compelled to log in to grind something and its just not as fun as it was for me.

Theres a high chance I will relapse and come back but giving away the gold is one step towards making sure I dont.

I have a 3 year old and another kid on the way and I just dont see WoW giving me value for money in the future, especially with the insane cost per month here in Australia

But you want to give it all away?

Fair enough.

Of course. Companies like Blizzard are always quick to reduce to sub price when currencies change. They would never take advantage of a short term weakness in the $ to raise prices, then leave it inflated indefinitely. Only scumbag companies do that.

Of course, if you want to save money you could just open up notepad, type “content” then select it, CTRL-C and then hold down CTRL-V. It’s pretty much exactly what Blizzard are doing nowdays, and you don’t have to pay the monthly fee to do it.

Honestly it’s not Blizz’s fault for the price , it was only adjusted because of inflation and the exchange in currencies rates which Blizz doesn’t control exchange rates.

i salute you paladin

That’s $15.12 USD
It just feels like a lot of Dollarydoos because of conversion

You had 1.5 mil and were paying real money to play warcraft?

I’ve been playing via gold since WoD, just on principle. Unfortunately this actually results in blizzard making 25% more money on “my” monthly sub, which isn’t my intention.

Well converted its still alot where he is, Its pretty much the same in Canada around 22 ish dollars. Might be 15 for you but we still pay 8-10 more which adds up.

What’s minimum wage up there in the 51st?

don’t give away your gold. hold on to it and if you come back it’ll be there.

never know what the future holds for the game. but i totally understand stepping away for now…this game is in a really weird spot, and i’m not really sure who the target audience is anymore…

Really? It equates to $15 in USD… which is what we’ve been at for 20 years.
