Goodbye Heroes of the storm

I love heroes of the storm. The first casualty of Blizzard is official. Which is next ? Starcraft ? Diablo or maybe even Warcraft?

See you all on mobile…in China.

HotS is a good game, but it had trouble finding it’s groove. There were a few lead changes that made the development path go in different directions.

I should point out it is not shutting. In fact, the announcement said HotS was primed for long term sustainability. It will be around for a few more years and they will even add in new heroes!

Fyi 19 threads about Hots have already been deleted so this will probably make #20

Starcraft and Diablo have been in maintenance mode for years. Hots is about to be added to that list.

None of those games are “dead.” They’re just more like zombies. Undead.

Wait what? Where is it going?

does starcraft even get new content, or is it just there.

Shame, I enjoyed hopping in once or twice a year to play a little to unlock something for another game.

It was blizzard trend chasing. Nothing more.

They are moving the developers over to mobile projects and have canceled the esports events.

The only new content it gets is additional commanders for the coop mode, which is only touched by a minority of players (although I, personally, do enjoy it and buy every commander they release). Even then, the numbers of commander are only like 1-3 per year. Very slow. They also release skins for structures and units that you can buy to help support the prize pool for the SC2 tourneys.

Beyond that?

Balance updates for the pro scene. Not really content, but at least some demonstration of caring on the part of Blizz, at least.

But story content has outright been cancelled. More mission packs in the same vein as Nova’s were actively shelved specifically because Blizzard did not think they had “replay value.”

They are being moved to other projects.

They are working on mobile games for all their IPs.

They already confirmed diablo developers were being moved to immortal. Why would it be different for the rest of the company.

shame not my kind of game but I have fun with it on and off.
I prefer HOTS way more to League or Dota

That news is a bit depressing, I wanted to give it a shot. Guess I was too late…

We get balance/mix-up-meta patches and also get some skin support with small lore attach to each of them. Overall Starcraft 1 and 2 started from a grassroots so it will die when the community who support it dies.

This makes me sad :frowning: I have played HotS since the early Beta and have always loved it! (Way better than those other similar games like LoL imo)

But they did say that a lot of the devs moved onto other projects which is unfortunate. Development is going to be really slow now. :frowning:
