Good WoW Laptop

Can anyone recommend. Preferably under 800 usd. Just to play wow and maybe old school counter strike source.

Anything with AMD 5600 M or maybe Nvidia 980 M which is a little cheaper…

Laptops are not really suitable for games… You can build a desktop cheaper than a laptop, because the screen in a laptop are the expensive part, just get barebones Mobo\RAM\SSD\GPU… if you really want to go cheap just upgrade the GPU and make sure you have SSD.

I have this currently:

Intel Core i5-4430 (4 core)
AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT
16GB RAM
Samsung 870 SSD

I get around 78 FPS avg… which is decent @1080 good settings.

Its cheaper than a laptop…

I have an HP x360 laptop but it has 4K display touch screen but only nVidia 970M… it’s OK but not great… but it was 1500.00.

Better value is a desktop not a laptop.

Assumption is you’re stuck to a laptop for whatever reason, no sales, and buying new…

You’re in the ball park of a gtx 1650 for laptops. I don’t believe there is any decent AMD cpu with those gpu so you’re really looking at intel spec base laptops.

Going towards 800-1.1k range opens you up to rtx 2060 and gtx 1660 realm which is of course better. Depending on how long you plan on keeping the laptop for gaming you may want to look into those.

If you’re open to used products then that may be a bit more broad. Bought a used razer blade 14 w/ a gtx 1060 and it still runs WoW well to this day.

TUF506IU with a 4800h and 1660ti mobile is an ok laptop for about $850 on sale.
The cooling is ok but could be better. Using it on a table is fine and I’d shy away from a rtx 2060 variant.

Cheapest laptop with a 3060 which is like double the fps of a 1660ti is this.

One review I saw on it says it runs hot and noisy from the fans, a guildie bought it and will see on Wed though.

The i5 10500H is not a terrible CPU but it’s not great either. It uses 2X the power as a 5600U and gets about the same performance.

You have to be careful with Ampere mobile cards too. Depending on the thermals an RTX 3060 can be slower than an RTX 2060 due to throttling. Nvidia’s RTX 3000 is terribly inefficient.
You can game on it fine but you might get similar per on a 2000 series for much cheaper.

I have been playing WOW on an MSI gaming laptop for the last 6 years-same one, and have had zero issues. However if you play 12 hours straight, it does get a little warm

You obviously have never played WOW on a gaming laptop, this isn’t the 80s or 90s. laptops are very suitable for gaming with gaming laptops available. My MSI gaming laptop is still going strong 6 years now. Plus I can take it with me anywhere I want to go.

With that budget you can buy used 2060 from a reputable source like dell outlets if you don’t trust ebay. But to get the best bang for your buck lurk around best buy for some open box sales. Best Buy open box offers the same warranty as if you are purchasing them brand new, except the fact that you can get them over 50% what they retailed for if you are lucky. Below are some suggestions that’s AROUND your budget range.

My RX 580 died a few weeks ago and I played quite a lot on my old i5 3220M laptop with a GTX 650M while I waited for my GTX 1660 ti. Wow complained that it didn’t like the old Kepler drivers with a little caution symbol at the character select screen, but it worked fine even in Shadowlands lol

For new units you can snag on Amazon, would look at GTX 1650 laptops, good balance of power usage, price, and capability. HP and Lenovo both have new units under $700, Asus and Acer around $730. I’m sure getting a monster GPU in a laptop is fun in some ways, but realistically how the heck are you going to dissipate all that heat? it’s literally going to blast it out with a 4000rpm fan at 100dB and still do a bad job, high power laptops are a meme product.
