I miss my monk. Left him behind early in season 1 and switched to this warrior. Overall I think it was the right decision, but I do miss my kung fu panda. Is 10.1 looking good for monks?
Which monk spec?
Windwalker. I’m not a super high end player, I run keys in the 15 range and mostly do normal raid with maybe a tad of heroic. I mainly quit my monk due to survivability issues in M+
Survivability never was an issue. Raid ST is garbage. AOE is still too TOD reliant. In my opinion it got worse so stay with warrior
If you wanna raid, ww is hot garbage. If you wanna do m+ , ww aimt that bad. You also have the opportunity to OS Brew and Mw and both of them are good. Brew is amazing.
Depending on content you wanna do
At that level Windwalker will be more than sufficient, don’t worry and have fun.
Survivability was definitely an issue for me. Had a much easier time running keys as fury warrior. I mostly miss the ww monk rotation and class fantasy. Genuinely fun and engaging gameplay.
Avoid avoid avoid WW until 10.3
Maybe we get a rework then, but i wouldn’t hold out hope.
You don’t think ww will at least be good for M+?
We’ll be using faeline stomp in m+. It’s a terrible feeling ability that i truly believe most monks wouldn’t want to use.
That and tier scaling does not seem to be in our favor at this patch.
Eww I never used faeline stomp… Wasn’t really a fan of bonedust brew either tbh. Man, I’m reconsidering bringing monk out of retirement now
If you like the theme play. But just know it is like ice skating up hill to even get into groups right now.
You won’t have to use Faeline in M+ if you don’t want to, can play BdB if you prefer for very similar results.
WW will be fine in M+ and you don’t have to play with FLS or BdB if you don’t want to, the build without either is close enough to be personal preference and experience.
IMO, WW will be high A tier for M+ at best. Raid will be sad. PvP will be mixed results.
If you’re not constantly blasting like 20s, you’ll prolly be fine.
Yeah pretty much what everyone has said already, should be pretty good for M+ and bad for Raiding…
But yeah I mean even a relative “Bad” spec is totally fine for what 99% of the players will do, so aside from community perception which might indeed affect you, the spec itself is not something that will hold you back from comfortably being able to clear Heroic or +20 keys.
I have to disagree on the survivability issue though, I actually find WW very durable in M+. I guess the only “catch” is that it’s not passive nor reactive (like you can’t really self-heal very well).
But it’s very good if you understand the fight and what are the threatening mechanics and pro-actively use your defensive CDs to deal with them… Plus you have very good mobility and CC to either dodge or stop dangerous abilities. Oh and you can even dispel yourself form Poisons, Diseases, Slows/roots, and even magic debuffs with Diffuse Magic.
It’ll be fine for mythic plus. It will probably over perform for the first few weeks in m+ simply by virtue of how much stronger TOD will be but, as always, it will start to fall rapidly once other classes start to get upgrades to ilvl because the spec scales so horribly.
TOD is the massive crutch the classes glaring issues are hiding behind.
WW is DOA in raid because of the abysmal single target.
if you play 15+, ww is great. actually all classes are fine at that level. play what you like. if you go 20s, then nah.
I miss my monk and im still playing it. I miss when it wasnt frustrating as hell to play.
Realistically unless youre looking to hit a 2800 or 3000 mythic + rating, you should be okay. It may be hard getting group invites in a couple of weeks, though.

Easy fix for me is to make WDP a choice node with FLS and just apply all the current bonuses to WDP (apply a debuff for FH off of WDP, instead of “fighting on the faultline”).
