Good Things Thread

So, anything good happen to you today, or recently? Just feeling the need for some positivity. Please, I want to talk and I have no one to talk too.

I just finished the paperwork for my new job. I’ve been looking for work since the end of August. I’ve had a seasonal gig, and then another job that just did not work out. So, I’m pretty excited. It’s part-time retail. But, it’s permanent and the people there are super nice. Part-time works out for us right now.

It’s nice not to feel bad about not being able to find a job. Job hunting during COVID sucks.

So that’s my good thing for the day.

Nothing special for me, but I’ve got good things going for me right now. A degree and a steady career. I struggle with loneliness irl but I’m in a good place other than that. Good luck to you with your new job, hope everything works out well.

I remembered to cancel my wow sub before it renewed. That’s pretty good.

If all goes well, I might be headed toward better living with better internet and finally experience speeds above 5 Mb/s down for the first time in half a decade. So that’s something.

Also about to have to go through the job scouring process, so good on you. It’s a rough time out there so getting anything is pretty good news.

In the vein of job hunting, I have a phone interview with a place I’m applying to to finally start on the path to a career. It is rough out there, and I wish everyone else looking for work the best of luck.

Game wise, I’m pushing RBG rating on a hunter and having fun. I’ve never been great at the rated PvP thing (and what a season to try) but I got some support from my guild, so its been fun.

Well, for me I’m just doing well with guild recruitment. Its always a satisfying feeling to see a new influx of recruits and to just get a bit of traction after stagnating for a while.

Other than that, IRL the job hunt continues, much to my chagrin. Been out of work since January, so that’s rough. But always look on the bright side of things - enjoy the moment for what it is and know that if you keep working at it, things will get better.

I went out to do an hour or so of fishing this morning. Always clears my head.

I stopped by the local donut shop, but was a couple bucks short and had forgotten my card at home.

The person in front of me stopped and turned around in order to hand me a 20, which was not only let me pay for my breakfast and give a good tip, but also yielded enough change that I was able to pay it all forward to the person behind me.

And when I got out to the little park pond I like to fish at every now and then, I caught a bass on my first cast.

Put me in a good mood the whole rest of the day.

My blood sugar is stabilized (recently diagnosed diabetic), I got my lawn mowed today, I’m on Vacation until next week (and then maybe longer due to potential Jury Duty summons the day I’m supposed to be back at work), and today I got my preorder from Games Workshop of all the Lumineth Realm-Lord miniatures I preordered as part of the second wave of the release. So I’m going to be busy for a while!

Oh and I get my second dose of the COVID Vaccine Thursday!

Awesome! I got mine last week. I don’t feel as scared when I go out now. It’s great.

I’m firefighter of the year in my small town and I started as the assistant brewer at our brewpub while being able to juggle my old job of making kimchi and sauerkraut at the health food store.

…I’ve also got minimal WoW time, but lately that’s not feeling like privation.

I found a $100 bill on the ground! I even checked to make sure it’s not fake and sure enough the ghost of Ben Frank is inside it.

I also got my first COVID shot but the side affects kinda knocked me on my asssss, I think it’s a combination of that and seasonable allergies turned me into a miserable snot bucket the last few days but I’m feeling better today.

Congrats on the job! Job hunting has been hard with COVID, I had a few friends laid off and it’s been difficult for some of them to rebound. One friend was a full-time catering manager but COVID seems to have effectively ended the concept of catering and salad bars and buffets for the foreseeable future.

Man, all of these job interviews people are having make me glad I’ve still got mine. Also fully vaccinated so that’s good, even if there’s nowhere for me to go now that it’s safer to do so.

I considered going out to mow my lawn until I realized that it’s still under four feet of snow.

That sounds like quitter talk to me.

Movie theaters in CA opened up right after the two week waiting period following my second covid shot. Existing in a public space other than the grocery store has made me feel like a person again. And I’ve missed theaters so much it’s almost surreal to be back.

Yes! I recently got some baby chicks. The little balls of adorable fluff are currently peeping quietly behind me. I also learned how to use some power tools so I can build garden beds for vegetables. Caring for chickens and gardening will get me outside in the sunshine, so that’s a good thing.

Oh and one thing I forgot to add: my RP partner finally got some reliable internet, so hopefully new stories will be in the works!
