I’ll just jump straight into todays topic. I’m excited abotu shadowlands but I’ve hit a point where hte current content is sorta… dry for me. I’m still logging in to take care of some maintenance, do some mount farms, etc, but I’m not quite as engaged as I had been for the last X months and I sort of want to hold off on leveling any more alts until SL comes out. I’ve got my potential “mains” for SL at 120 with half decent gear so I’m kinda prepped for the most part.
As such, my gaming time isn’t quite as full as it used to be and it coincides with my other guilty gaming addiction… minecraft. I’m a fan, always loved buildin and breakin stuff and I follow a group of content creators called Hermitcraft which just started a new season. So… I got set up on one of the creators patreon / subscriber servers last night and started breakin blocks.
For those of you who are already certain you’ll be playing shadowlands and therefore stickin out the drought, what do you do to fill the gaps when things start to get a little stale in WoW?
Still got mythic Ny’alotha to do, and I want to time every key on 20 by the end of the expansion, maybe try for glad for the first time. I have plenty to do.
That’s ambitious! I’ll be honest, I’ve sorta given up on pushing endgame this time around. I’ll do the last tier of LFR just to see the fights, maybe try to get in a normal pug or see if my guilds got a spot for me in heroic with my “main”. but the rest of it… I’m sorta not in the mood. I took such a long break, I was so far behind. I’m just really excited abotu SL so I’ve mostly been prepping for that.
When we have more info, I’ll know what else I need to do. Start farming consumables to make leveling faster, etc.
I just do my dailies, do some azerite WQS and go sit in trade chat watching people have a political debate it’s quite entertaining sometimes. Especially on Moonguard. Not much for me to do. I haven’t felt like pushing M+ this patch or even raiding. Dunno why.
I mostly just level my alts till my wife gets home then drag her through islands to get her transmogs/pets/mounts (just look for a warlock and hunter vulpera, one of which behaves like it has brain damage). Nothing really has interested me personally whole expansion, oh and the ‘exquisite’ gear from warfront quest box like my plague doctor mask.
I have a few things I want to finish over the next few months.
-Brawlers Guild
-Insane achieve (only 9000 more pirates to kill yay!)
-mount farming (mostly Island mounts, but a few rares I’m still hunting down)
Actually, those are the main ones.
I’m also gearing up any toons I’m considering playing as a main in SL, so that when 9.0 hits I can make a better decision after the level squish and class changes.
In between I’ll probably dabble in some pvp and M+ to kill time, and maybe do a bit of gold farming along the way.
I don’t see a drought. I still have to get the cloak to Rank 6, 12, do my emissaries and attempt to get a character geared enough for AOTC. Most of my 120s still don’t have a cloak. Not gonna rush the content when we still have months to do it all.
Since I’m trying to hit the 450 mount mark before 9.0 (currently 437) I got plenty to keep me busy. Taking my toons through the various MoP world bosses keeps me busy on its own. That’s not including some of the other stuff I’m trying to farm up.
I think I’m fast approaching that. Once I’m exalted on my two mains this patch and have cape rank 15, I’ll work on my Kalimdor Loremaster and subsequent Loremasters.
Then likely I’ll go down the reputation path and then collections (mostly leather and plate transmogs).
I’ve made a Monk Brewmaster and while I find I’m doing content on it well I think the long term solution is to abandon it. Better for me to get better at my Paladin.
Yeaaahhh, it’s hard to justify spending the time to level an alt right now the old-fashioned way when we know the whole system is getting revamped very soon. I’ve got several Allied Races just kind of parked waiting to try out the new tracks.
I’m playing the drought because I absolutely will NOT be playing the start of SL. I won’t come back until flying is available. Not flying for a year is a miserable experience and won’t reward Blizz for sticking to it.
You (basically) get pathfinder by playing the game; doing things you would already be doing… are you going to come back and grind the hell out of Pathfinder, instead of doing it at a normal pace over time?
To keep it from getting stale, I play other games off and on. That said there’s tons for my vulpera shaman to do like loremasters, revisit old raids for mog runs and bag of tricks unlocks. Along with working my way along with the cloak and other things.
Well considering how rep is time gated and tied exclusively to WQs I can’t come back and grind it all at once. I’d LOVE to do that actually. Throwing on a tabard and running dungeons till exalted (revered for PF I know) would be one of the best things to ever happen to this game again.
Yes I refuse to play so when I do come back I can focus on PF and fly without the spiteful time gate.
Repeatedly wiping on mythic followed by some 3v3s sprinkled on top is where I spend my time. Also currently doing some type of faith build on Darksouls 3 to kill time.
People always say you get it by playing the game. That makes the wild assumption that everyone plays the game the same way. I had to do a considerable amount of grinding in Naz that I had 0 interest in doing just to get flight.
And yeah, a lot of people dont want to play the game for a year+ without flight and would rather come back, rush pathfinder, then go back and enjoy the content how they enjoy the content. It’s unfortunate for both the players and the game to be honest and it should be addressed. Metering out pathfinder would make a lot more sense. Complete a zone, get the rep for that zone, get flight for that zone.
I didn’t wanna get ‘bored’ so I’m just focusing on a little bit here and there and playing minecraft so I don’t burn out or anything.
Or I play CK2 with AGOT mod so I can rule as House Lannister and squash the would be usurpers!
But yeah I’m having fun in WoW, but the AGOT mod had an update I didn’t see last month so I may play that for a bit. But I am doing loremaster and taking it easy, the most I want to do in game is the loyalist quest line before it’s removed, it was reported removed by a forum post last patch and later confirmed its still there and just glitchy so that’s my only time thing I want to get done.
My current actions are as such:
Taking my main panda through the motions in Uldum and Pandaria, getting rep for the mounts and doing the extra bug mount thing feeding my little larva Spike.
Running my horde belf DH through similar stuff, but not as often. Do both through the story up to raids, at which point I don’t go any further.
After that I level alts, and take my time doing it. Main ones I’ve been jumping around are my undead warlock who just hit 80, so yay Pandaria! My mechagnome just hit 72, so I’ll spend a couple hours this weekend running him through Outland with the Darkmoon hat and trying to get his dang engineering up for the second flying mount. After those two I have a ton of alts and I just kind of hop around leveling whoever I feel like working on, usually motivated after I see a high level with a great transmog, lol.
If I get bored doing quests, then I’ll take a high level around for transmog dungeoning or maybe mount farming or whatever.
PS: I too sometimes hop into Minecraft when I don’t play WoW, usually just to keep building buildings in my giant city. It’s the only world I have that my daughter isn’t allowed to touch, but I haven’t gone into it in many months since I’m happy with WoW right now.
