I finally decided to just go ahead and buy a new computer. I’m not sure my current one will outlast the video card shortages, so I went through NZXT and put a nice system (to me anyway) together.
The card I’m getting is an EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA. I’m looking to stick to 1440 144. I have no desire at this time for a 4k monitor. I’d like to stick to around a $500 budget. Anyone have some good suggestions in that range?
Thanks.
Try LG 27GP850. Launched recently. Got review too.
+1 on that LG one. I had JUST bought that monitor this past Saturday, with the difference being the 32" model @ $499. The release of the 32" slashed the price of the 27" down to $399.
How’s the 27GP850 for slower, less competitive gaming where framerate is just a cherry on top?
Was looking at it a few weeks ago but the reviews were saying parts of the picture quality like black levels aren’t great on it.
From the tips I’ve gotten from others and what I’ve read, IPS monitors such as the mentioned LG has the advantage of picture quality vs TN monitors where they’re known for FPS and latency; VA and a few lesser-known types are in the middle.
I lean towards a preference for IPS monitors because I too don’t play a lot of competitive games.
Everywhere I’ve looked the 27" is still at $500, and the 32 at $600. Where did you get it for less?
The GP or the GL model?
If the GP, where?
I was thinking about getting a pair of the GP for my home office (I have their 38" panel and am very happy with it), but was debating whether the DisplayHDR 400 would be worth the extra $100 over the GL models.
The actual one I bought. Not sure if there are differences between the versions, like how sometimes model numbers change based on the retailer:

Depends on what you like in a monitor. I didn’t like the image quality of the 27GP850.
My recommendation is this:

If the oversaturation bothers you with the MSI you can calibrate it to your liking.
I’m shopping right now and leaning toward the Alienware R12. Any advice, input, or feedback?
It’s generally best to start your own thread, Alsandar.
Overall I tend to tell people to stay away from Alienware. Their PCs are overpriced.
At the cheap end something like a Dell XPS 8940 will run about $1200.
There’s 8 core iBuyPower PCs with 8 core Ryzen 7s running about $1600. Anything more will be overkill for WoW at this time.
This one: Acer Nitro XV340CK Pbmiipphzx 34" QHD 144Hz
IPS
There IS no better monitor for that price range.
479.00 Microcenter.
You’re welcome
I use the Dell S2721DGF - came out in October so its fairly new and uses the same technology/panels as the LG monitors.
27", 1440p and 165 hz which is nice. Currently on sale on Dell’s site for $377 which is a great price. This was reviewed as one of the best monitors to get @ 1440p/144hz+ around December when I was looking, and I am sure it still is.
