not sure if its against the rules and if so my bad. but im trying to trade someone some gold on retail for gold in classic
Honestly I donât know but seems like sketch grey area that has a potential to get banned for basically nothing. Blizzard has banned people for less.
well ill just grind, thanks for the heads up
grind some, but you can also GDKP to make some gold too. I cant say theyâre like an organized guild run or a speed clear team, but they sure do beat the pants of a normal pug.
While its my understanding that they wont ban/suspend people for trading gold between retail/classic, its a grey area, and if you get scammed which is quite likely, its all on you and you will have zero recourse.
Honestly making gold is relatively easy in classic, you donât even really have to farm, though it will help significantly if you can make your own consumables so you donât have to buy them or the components on the AH. The key is to simply do the content, quests after 60 give lots of gold, so do dungeons and raids, even if you donât do GDKPs. The only time you will likely lose gold is if you join a really bad raid which dies a lot and canât really clear the content without a lot of deaths.
The official support post seems to suggest:
âThe exchange of gold or items with another player on a different realm or faction is entirely at your own risk and is unsupported.â
Historical posts on these forums have given strong evidence that indicate it is generally not against any rules, but is unsupported, so an âat your own riskâ sort of situation.
Since I was quoted above, Iâll just add that these are almost always scams with illicit gold.
I highly recommend against doing these sorts of trades at all.
There are a couple things that could go wrong.
You get outright scammed/ripped off for the gold you put forth.
You get traded some illicit/botted gold that gets you flagged by Blizz.
Hence âat your own riskâ
This.
It happens quite frequently.
Makes for interesting forum posts.
The reason those spammers are so willing to go first is that they are using you to get clean gold while they trade you dirty gold
id be down to trade if you still want it. which server/cluster are you on?
If gold from farming garrisons and mission tables in Legion/WoD is illicit then we need to hold Blizz accountable for that gold flowing through the economy⌠I made 100mil during both those expansions and used that gold to transfer and fund other versions of the game and bnet balance plus sub lol
Its not always a Ponzi scheme when someone wants to trade gold they got on another version for the version they want to playâŚ
o.O
Who said anything of the sort? I certainly didnât.
I stand behind my statement that I personally would never ever suggest anyone attempt such a trade as theyâre almost always scams. And since theyâre completely unsupported, Blizz wonât get involved or give anyone their gold back if it goes south.
If you want to do this with someone you know and trust, by all means. But even then they can go south and weâve seen it too many times in the CS forums for me not to recommend against it.
I would guess most players trading gold are less afraid of getting scammed and more worried about getting banned.
I have no idea how blizzard does bans for that sort of stuff but I would guess that âoutlierâ transactions are flagged. So if your account has never had gold on Era but all of a sudden you have 100,000gold, it may trigger some flag and lead to a ban. Whereas someone who has been sitting on multiple gold cap toons for years on Era may not trigger that upon receiving the same amount of gold.
Again, I have no idea how blizzard does it - but if they do anything like the above, then trading between game modes could totally cause one to be flagged as a gold buyer and eat a ban.
Now one could probably appeal it and win pretty fast, but is the gold trade worth being banned, even if just for a few days?
In more recent posts, Iâd the gold from either party was found to be illicit in nature, Blizzard has been actioning BOTH sides for the trade.
Thatâs a newer trend mostly this year Iâd say, but I wouldnât personally touch a trade like this with a 10foot pole.
Thats a lie when people say that they do ban for that though. I asked to do it with someone on the forums back when Classic first came out. People kept flagging me and mass reporting me so I eventual post it on to the CS forums. Blizz said as long as both parties agree to the trade and you cannot trade to any currency outside of WoW while doing it. 100% allowed to do from any version of this game to another.
As long as the trade involves two parties where neither party has comingled legit and âdirtyâ gold, Blizzard wonât take action. But if you trade with someone whoâs been (for example) selling gold on the side for rent money, you too are in the cross hairs. Thereâs very little way you have to confirm the gold traded to you isnât clean.
Trader beware.
So confused what is a lie there? you basically said the same thing I did, that in general you can do it and they wont ban you.
That said its not quit that simple and there are risks as others have mentioned, if you trade with a gold seller, if they get nailed in a bot seep, it would be very easy for you to get caught up in the sweep, and just like they wont help you out if you get scammed, they likely wont put a lot of effort into deciding your trade with a gold seller was legit, as they would have no way to tell you didnât actually spend real $$, and no having a screen shot wont be enough, as you could easily have performed the RM transaction via discordâŚ
âŚfor crypto lmaooo
Oh that was good reminder ty. I forgot to mention that part. Iâm under the impression that if you are 100% innocent and you deal with someone who isnât⌠Blizz probably isnât going to take the time to ban one person but not the other. They probably would either ban everyone or ban no one. I am super careful who I trade gold with.
Yea I didnât say it correctly what I meant. I mean when there are people out there who keep saying that Blizz will ban you for trading gold in game from one version of WoW to another. Lol. I got reported for that by people who donât understand that rules and it got annoying. I was trying to get retail gold traded for Classic gold. No one wanted to as they still thought it was against the rules even when it isnt.
Trading from WoW to Runescape used to happen a lot. THAT is bannable every time it is proven to have happened. But WoW gold for WoW gold across all versions are allowed. But Blizzard says it is up to the players to find out the currency trade rates and the players to make sure the trade is legit.
