You think they will ever do a gold squish? Kind of like a big tax on the masses?

No. That would make a ton of people quit the game. Myself included.

Plus they make more money from people paying for subs with gold than they do regular subs. So this would also hurt their revenue.

Once gold received a monetary value these ideas (as silly as they are) lost all hope of happening. If I pay 20 dollars for 150k and you take that away from me and others that’s a class action lawsuit waiting to happen

All gold in this game is generated through ingenuity, hard work, or just straight up grinding. There is also no barrier of entry. There is no class system in wow (lol) that you can’t break into at any time. Want to be a gold tycoon be one. Want to be a mythic raider? Be one.

You mean let the wealthiest AH manipulators keep their gold and leave everyone else dirt poor with no option but to buy tokens to pay their in-game expenses?

I don’t understand how anyone would think that would be good for the game.

How does their own digital currency controlled by them make them more revenue then paid subs. Genuinely Interested.

1 Token Costs $20 but is only worth $15. So a person that pays for thier sub with gold generates an extra $5 a month.

Edit: Yes, I realize the guy who is paying with gold spends 0 actual dollars. But blizz is still getting paid by someone.

People will spend $20 on a token to sell on the AH for gold is most likely what they meant.

Explain to me how you are dirt poor and don’t want to be. Are you telling me if you pick herbs or fish or craft nothing will sell? Are you telling me that if you do a 2k emissary on 10 toons you don’t get to keep the 20k? Are you telling me you can’t boost ANY content (visions, freehold, mythics)? Or do you like pretending you are a victim for your lack of trying?

Honestly there is only so much you can do to pull gold out of the game without making it unfun to earn gold for the common player. Blizz is doing an ok at best job at that.

Blizz is working on it though if you can’t tell already. (nerfing gold generation of old raids and the other more obvious stuff like brutosaur)

Honestly it would be nice to see 20k gold as a massive amount of wealth again, instead of that being my repair bill lmao

Nah the riots from that would be explosive and unstoppable. Inflation’s inevitable, but it’s best to just keep adding more stuff to buy to drain it out instead.

Yes, there are optional money drains in the game.

You can also buy tokens to purchase any game they sell on the launcher…like the new CoD thats coming soon.

But thats not the same a what the op is suggesting because its optional.

There is a gold nerf coming in the prepatch for every dungeon in the game. Including skyreach and blackrock foundry/iron docks. Raw gold farm is about to be killed.

Nope. They can control inflation pretty easily if they wanted to by decreasing reward and sell prices and raising the cost of items. They have chosen to use gold sinks to mostly maintain it.

A big tax on the “masses”, and apparently leaving the wealthiest players untouched.
