Does anyone happen to know what (if anything) determines when a world quest gives you gold and when it does not? I have 7 level 70 toons, and 4 of them have 6 world quests for gold, and 3 of them only have 2 world quests that give gold.
I think it’s kinda based on what your character needs. So if it’s a lower ilvl, you might get gear. Not maxed on rep, then bonus rep for you. I have no proof, but this seems to be what my characters have experienced.
/shrug WQ rewards have always seemed pretty random. Some characters will get gear, others will get gold, others will get rep.
That is what it seems like to me as well. This toon that is maxed on renown and has a high ilvl gets more WQs with gold rewards than any of my other level 70 toons.
Anecdotal, but yes this is what i have experienced too. My main has like 7 gold quests, but one of my freshly capped alts only have 2. With the 5 others being gear or Titan Matrices.
I think it’s based on ilvl. Because most of my characters will have more or less the same rewards, and they’re all more or less BIS for PVP gear. So I don’t get many if any gear rewards at all. Quests that offer gold on one character offer gold for all of them, as far as I can tell.
You’re right that it’s item level based, but I think you didn’t reach the conclusion that explains the difference between characters some people are experiencing: the higher item level you have, the more quest rewards are replaced by gold, my 2 main characters, who have around 418-426 item level always get gold when there’s the possibility to get it, and did so even when one of the 2 was around 400 item level.
For some examples I noticed currently, the field of ferocity world quest gives around 600 base gold that you don’t see between the rewards, but is always there, no matter the character, then each time there will be an extra reward, usually those tokens to upgrade gear, or otherwise gear, titan maxtrix or pure gold (which is usually an extra 1k).
Now, when it’s a gold reward, it’s gold for everyone, and that’s how my low alts could get it, when it’s the gear tokens like it is in eu this week no one gets the extra gold, no matter the gear, and when it’s a gear reward or a titan matrix, characters above 390 item level (might be 385 too, it’s about there) will convert the gear or matrix into the extra 1k gold and characters below this will not get the extra 1k.
And lately I noticed this also goes for other wq, for example this week north of thaldraszus in eu, we have a quest to clear an area of gnolls and one to score 12 goals, and they both have a base rep reward: the gnoll quest requires around 355 item level to switch to gold, while the goal one is a bit higher, seems 365, I had some toons around 350 item level which I upgraded with tw gear and noticed they have these different thresholds, which I think are random, as in: this particular quest will require 365 for this half-week period, the other one 355, but next half-week they can be the other way around.
Then again your comment was a while ago, so we knew less stuff about how stuff worked back then.
and if initially you are under the ilevel to make the WQ into a gold quest and you go over later, it will switch.
