Gold making tips for noobs? :)

Hi everyone!
So, I guess I am taking a shot in the dark here and hoping I get a few helpful tips among the sure to be sarcasm.
I have never been great at making gold it WoW.
Not sure how people make 2 mil, or 5 mil or anything even close to that.
The most I have ever had at any one time is 300k,

So, just wondering if anyone has any tips or strategies and you are willing to share them?

Thank you in advance!

Go to Stormwind/Orgrimmar run up to anyone you find, open a trade window and beg for gold. Works every time.

That doesn't work. Trust me, I've tried. All that got me is a Sentinel dragging me up the gravel path by my hair yelling, "What would High Priestess Tyrende say if she saw you doing that?"

I replied in-between yelps, "Well, if she doesn't idle bunny hop like the rest of us do, why should I care about what she says?"

My sentencing is tomorrow :(
You know where the Scapper is in Dalar'azor?

Right near there are two pools that spawn the rare fish U'taka. They're 50g EACH! And that's just to the vendor.

I've made $5-6k just from checking those fishing pools every time I got scrap. Not trying. Not parking an alt there. Like once or twice a week, just casually walking over and seeing if they're there.

Making money in WoW is kinda like that in the general sense. If you just try... JUST A LITTLE... you'll make tons of money. It's not that hard.

Gathering professions provide income at zero loss.

Try mining and herbalism.

And if you have the time fishing and cooking.
Look and see what is selling well as far as transmog items on the AH. There are rares that drop pieces that can sell for a lot, especially the BC ones. BoEs sell well, hopefully rng will smile on you in Uldir. Also pets, look up what are bringing bank. Some sell for a lot.
Buy a token
Most people would not be willing to share anything that is really effective. Some people made a bunch with gold missions in WOD or Legion. Other people know about certain times during a release when prices for certain things are sky high and you can make a fortune. Some stuff may also be very server specific. A strategy may work for someone on their server, but not yours.

Things can also change quickly. I was making a nice bit of gold selling ghost iron bars, but the price has been plummeting lately on my server, along with the prices of sky golem, which some people used to tout as a sure way to make gold.
Sky Golem is still a lot on my server, pushing 100k. Haven't thought to check my other server tho.
if you lack a waterwalking mount a DK with path of frost is handy.

fish , BFA fish sell well on the AH
herbs and ore sell, though they are off from launch highs.

If you are willing to learn how to use it the trade skill master addon can help you watch the AH and buy things and relist them

transmog items can be lucrative.

if you get some of those 350 world weapon drops from various locations (google for farming zones) many things like that are still bringing over 100k each

If you engineer, that sky golem is usually still selling for more than cost to make it.

if you get the plate glorous legs, that is very good gold on the AH

I'm told (I don't skin , yet) that those bones and such from skinning bring good gold off the AH

level up cooking and make and sell feasts for raiders, you can still make gold from them.

Anchor weed if you are lucky enough to find nodes and have it up to rank three for more from a single node is running about 150gold each, but I seldom see anchor weed nodes farming on my DK

Do every gold mission even small ones
Do all gold WQ's and for items if they soulbind, scrap them and sell the mats

If you need gold to buy low ; sell high on the AH and don't want to farm the gold, you can buy and sell a token.

The people who make the most gold use TSM and flip stuff.

Find someone listing way below market, buy it and then relist it at market rates and profit.

Haven't looked but farming rare battle pets and selling those can net gold. For a while people were farming them on low pop servers then caging them and selling them on their high pop servers.

Being on a higher population server means more potential buyers for your Auctions.

Most of those who make huge amounts of gold are actually running an army of max level alts and each has different professions. A druid gatherer, and maybe one main, but they spend more time making gold than any other activity, kind of like a job. They keep score by how much gold they make.

When I made this toon I sent him 500 gold and 8 netherweave bags.

Since then even just loafing and not working it to hard he has accumulated over 10,000 gold at level 34.

There is no magic thing, it is get rich over time, one single gold piece at a time and only spend gold you have to spend on things like repairs and such.

Oh, if you do alchemy, potions and flasks etc are still selling well, but from my perspective the raw mats sell better than the finished pots. That is probably server wide.

Learn what guilds have a guild alchemist and offer to sell all your herbs to the GM at a fixed price and then just spend time farming.

Loot everything, buy 30 slot bags, learn what items are valued as xmog items.

Spend two or more hours per day farming and develop routes in zones that work for you.
Credit Card
give activision your money
Herbing/oreing isn't immersive.

I'd rather get gold from world quests like in Legion... you know, playing the game.

Why ask on this forum when you can just google and view 100s of videos that go into detail about how ? Your lack of resourcefulness is one reason you probably will never be good at making gold.
There are many ways to get gold...

Farm boe/mounts but that relies on luck...

Do old raids/dungeons to sell loot you get like Highmaul and Blackrock Foundry with all 4 difficulties, I got about 5k from Highmaul, about 7k from Blackrock Foundry with one character, if you have multiple characters, you could get even more. Just remember that it varies since it depends on what loot you get as well.

BFA reagents are doing ok, you can farm them without worry about luck, but it might take a while to get enough to sell on the AH to get a profit, though it depends on your servers population, if there is a good enough market at the moment to make a profit, and who will probably make it harder for you by undercutting. The AH is not as easy for some since your competing against other people, and since some say selling herbs, ore and such is a good way to make gold, others will follow and the competition gets even worse, at least for a time until the next "good way" comes along.

There are other ways but there is one thing that all require if you are "really" wanting to make gold, determination. If you do not keep up with the farm, don't stay focused on it, or lose interest, you wont get gold as fast as you may want.

Sure some will say that farming gold is a chore and should be made easier because if all your doing is a "chore" and/or not enjoying yourself, you shouldn't be playing.

I do agree in a sense that if you are not enjoying yourself you should not play, take a break, but at the moment if you want more gold, in less time, your going to have to put in the work for it, unless you just get the WoW token, but if you can earn gold on your own, you can buy WoW tokens with gold, instead of real life currency.

Whatever you decide, I hope it works out for you and what I said has helped in some way.
Here’s a real tip:

Open up the Auction House and click “search”, but leave the search-field empty. This will call up EVERYTHING on the AH.

Next, click “time left” and toggle until you have all the auctions getting ready to expire. Ignore the item descriptions and start scanning quickly down the page. You’re looking for auctions with NO BUYOUT getting ready to expire (that hopefully no one has bid on).

Most people ignore auctions with no buyout price, even if it’s a valuable item with a very low opening bid price. This is how I once got an Engineering mount for 200g that I was able to re-sell for 14,000g. And all kinds of other stuff.

Ooh, ooh, if only I knew how to do sarcasm...boy, would you be in trouble! Lucky for you my sarcasm is terrible. So there! Haha!

I make gold using professions. It's my main "thing" in wow, since around 2008. I don't raid or pvp or do other max level content. Before WoD, I never had more than 25k. Then I got better at it.

The "how" changes every month or two. Things work for a while then stop working. So I am often checking "does this work? what recipe makes a profit? most don't".

I read the Professions forum and look at youtube videos for new ideas. And anywhere else, of course. It is hard to find things that make a profit.

I am willing to start a new profession, just for 1 recipe that makes a profit. Since BFA that has become easy: no more grinding thru 600 levels to get to the "latest expansion" recipes.

My only change to this would be do mining or herbalism and always do skinning.

Skins do not sell as well on the AH but they never take you out of your way either. Free money from nearly every dead thing. The few skins that do sell do very well on the AH. But mostly, both mining and herbalism take you away from your other quest objectives and make it slower when you are doing anything but dedicated gathering.

Cooking isn't as profitable as it used to be.
Fishing is still okay and it sometimes fishes up rare items or mounts.

Warning Will Robinson...
Warning Will Robinson...

That 100k is the sale price. Subtract the cost of making it, and the profit may be 30k...or 3k...or a loss. And to craft it cheaply you need an Alchemist, a Smelter (Miner), a Blacksmith and an Engineer.
