Gold making question

It’s it better to have two gathering professions or one plus enchanting?

If you are never gonna make scrolls or weapon oil 2 gathering.

Most of the money makers are in crafting professions. Its usually best to have at least one of those. Though if your really serious then you need multiple alts with professions trained.

This late into this expansion I would go with 2 Gathers…trying to upgrade a profession that makes stuff to sell will be hard as heck…if you want to try to make stuff to sell you need to start at the beginning of a new expansion after doing some research on which ever profession you pick to make things with…there is good and bad in all professions now…

Gathering is lucrative the first 2-3 months of an expansion, and then it gets worse. The market gets flooded and demand can’t keep up supply.

During the next raid tier things will pick up again for professions.

People out to make gold will often start off with one crafting profession and multiple gathering ones. If you can gather a lot during that early expansion period you can make a heap of gold; its when botting farmers are at their busiest but even normal players can do it well. At the same time - if the current system of ranking up continues - you can work on your primary crafter to get it as good as possible fast and get a step up towards supplying people with higher grade gear.

No matter what they do, players coming late to crafting (or who have spread themselves too thin with limited time) will fall behind anyone who put all their efforts into just one or two crafting proffs. And gawd help you if you couldn’t play the game in that early time for any reason because its damned hard to catch up.

With the caveat that you have to spend either a boatload of time or gold to get to the point where you can reliably make money with crafting.

Its not either…its both…if you want to corner market for crafted stuff…it takes boat loads of time and gold …why I rather just gather anymore…I make enough each day to keep me happy…

Enchanting is busted and may remain useless for the remainder of the expansion. Crafting is generally a bad idea unless you’re actively going to try to build it up to make money, but enchanting is especially bad now.

I use to love to do Engineering …but every since BfA its been a bust now…the last two expansion I haven’t even bothered max it out anymore…its just not worth my time and costs anymore…not sure what I will do with it the next up coming expansion …just have to see if they do something to make it worth my while…

This late in the expansion, just go double-gathering. Switch to at least one crafting profession when the new expansion drops. Crafting is a far better use of your time if you’re serious about making gold, but you’re going to be a good bit behind if you’re just getting started.

Are any of the armor / weapon crafting professions any good? Like decent gold? I’m sick of alchemy….

Gold making = do WQ and random crap.
Level an alt you’ve been wanting to level.
I got about 30k on my lock that I just recently got up and did all the weeklies and such.
On average I pull about 12k-20k per character without even noticing.
And that’s not even heavy play.
It really isn’t hard to make gold without doing much at all.

Do quests give any decent gold? Or you make it all from world quests? Interesting

It really is a better use of time for making gold to have level 80 alts that hit the gold WQs and anything that rewards a pinnacle cache.

Gathering professions is a nice passive way to make gold- got nothing to do in game? just fly around for an hour or so and sell off the stacks. Once you get points into the gathering professions and start pulling 2 and 3 star mats, you can make a decent amount of gold.

If you have any of the feast recipes, you can make a decent amount of gold with cooking as well.

I would say use the gathering professions for characters you actively play, and save the construction professions for old mule alts that no longer get attention.

The one exception might be max level characters that would immediately benefit from the construction of items, such as tailoring for cloth classes.

Don’t underestimate previous expansions. Copper Ore, Peacebloom and Silverleaf still commonly sell for 4 gold each, and are very plentiful (with zero competition) right outside of the major cities. And they sell almost as fast as TWW mats.

I mean, you can net a few thousand gold just by doing some quests and selling the lower gear accompanied with them. Some WQs go for 800g, though are more rare than the 500g DF ones. The weekly chests from all over netted me quite a bit. Be sure to get the big adventure caches from the big WQ after doing 3 normal ones when those appear.
Even just selling your junk nets quite a bit.
Honestly, just play in TWW and you’re pretty much rolling in gold.
