Gold mailed to me from stranger - what would you do?

I don’t buy it who doesn’t shift right click their mailbox?

Me.

Yea but you have always been a weirdo bruh

I’m super-normal.

I’ve had problems similar to this but weirder.

Example:

  1. Ordered $400 chair from Amazon.
  2. Chair doesn’t arrive on time - contact Amazon.
  3. Amazon says, “Chair is lost in shipping, we’ll refund. Order again.”
  4. Repeat steps 1-3 TWICE more.
  5. Chair arrives.
  6. Chair arrives.
  7. Contact Amazon about what to do with extra chair. “Keep it. Not worth shipping back.”
  8. Chair arrives.
  9. Contact Amazon about what to do with extra extra chair. Same answer.

These were items I ORDERED that showed up unexpectedly and I got to keep. Apparently it’s a known scam to “lose” these sorts of things in shipping and then when they do show up (after a reorder) bill the customer. Amazon knows about it and protects their customers, but I’d have hated to be dealing with an independent company with this, especially one that might have been doing this on purpose.

try and contact the stranger a couple times over a week or so , no reply the gold is yours, who cares what Buzzard thinks.

Me (and some characters to hit the limit).

Thirstybeta wants validation for making the most selfish choice, and finds it in “everyone who’s saying they’d do anything else is lying.”

The world would be a much better place if people were more selfish IMO. Dead fkn srs.

Personal integrity is worth more to me than 1k gold, which is…not very much to me, but probably significant to some.

And I like feeling I’m contributing to a gaming environment I would like exist in.

I think #3 is most reasonable.

I know someone who used to buy gold and have it sent to players they hated so they would get banned. I suggest hitting that return button

What is there name so I can piss them off and get some of this terrible treatment XD.

I’m keeping it

I would have kept my mouth shut and also kept the gold. It is a dice roll, but at worst it is a 3-day vacation and they take the gold mailed to you. At best you just got 1000g for free.

To me, the potential benefits are worth the risk.

Odds are, someone fat fingered the name of the character they wanted to send to, in that case, their lose is your gain.

I wonder how much more gold you have made with this con. How many sheeple read this and sent you gold to jump on board.

OP here… I have put the person on my friend’s list but he hasn’t come on.

I feel that he has kept my mailbox hostage as I do “open all” on occasion, like I did this morning and the gold just poured in.

I am puzzled at Blizzard’s response to return or delete it. Why would I delete it? That doesn’t benefit me or the sender.

I am curious to see who the sender was, at any rate, to see if he’s a normal player… which may influence what I do with it. Perhaps he is just appreciative that my AH toon provides good value to the community and thus the “ty” in the subject line. Perhaps that is the interpretation I should go with.

This is some of the best buyer’s guilt I’ve seen in a while.

betting they sent it to the op by mistake and or it’s something shady. either way, returning it to the sender is what i would do. i know what it’s like to accidently send things to the wrong person which sucks. returning it for…you know, for good karma and all that. some thing most people won’t do in this day and age.

With 190,000 gold worth $15, your 1,000 gold is worth less than 8 cents. If some stranger mailed you 8 cents, you could return it and tell her she must have made a mistake, or keep the 8 cents and thank her anyway, or pocket the money with no thanks. Maybe she has dementia and it doesn’t matter.
