Hey fellas so I’m wanting to roll a shaman once classic comes out. However only thing that is holding me back is a shamans farming potential. Since I will be specking Into ele-resto I’m worried that I will not be able to farm gold efficiently. I don’t have much experience with vanilla and farming as a shaman. Any tips from you experienced players will be much appreciated thanks in advance!
You don’t need to kill things to make gold. While everyone else is out killing things you could be catching fish. Cooking them too.
People pay good coin for cooked fish.
Yeah, water walking makes fishing pretty easy - especially that maelstrom out in Azshara
Dont go elemental till 40/41. Until then, go down enhance. Get a fast 1h and shield and use flametongue. You can easily heal dungeons if you keep a second set of gear, just get int and heal power when you can find it. Its faster and more efficient to be enhance up to that level. You really dont need to be resto until level 60. Save the gold.
Damn so ima have to fish huh? Not as exciting as a mage mass killing mobs during dungeon runs. Oh well lol.
I went element in bc when I got chain lightning probably at 40 or before.
I was resto in bc leveled it may not be the same thing in classic but, chain lighting is fun and awesome.
@ OP, as Elemental you can do DM/Lasher aoe runs for gold if need be, like most other casters.
This is a good baseline… However, for optimal efficiency it’s a bit incomplete.
Earthbind kiting with rockbiter weapon and a 2hander is faster than 1h/shield facetanking. All the way to 60.
If you’re lazy, however (and let’s be real, most of us are), the 1h/shield method is relatively decent as well… At 30, however, you will want to swap to windfury weapon over flame tongue.
If you intended to go elemental, lvl 40 is the appropriate time, and Elemental will be the fastest time to killspec in the entire game, BUT it is not as efficient as Rockbiter/2h/earthbind kiting, and as such will end up slower via needing to drink
Okay I thought that in order for shaman to heal dungeons I had to go ele/resto spec so that’s good to hear.
I plan on skinning/enchanting to 60 on my sham for the mats and all that, then ditching enchanting and going engineering. fishing and cooking is also big. Might not be as exciting as blizzard farming, but it sure is relaxing.
I will def look into dm/lasher runs for gold farming. As well as fishing according to the previous tip lol.
I’ve never heard of earthbind kiting. Damn I feel like a complete noob Ima have to look that up as well. I’m glad I started to ask questions o.O
