Gold buying should result in a permanent IP/hardware id ban that lasts forever

The title says it all.

If blizzard cannot deal with the botters and RMT gold sellers then I think it is fair that the people supporting the bots and RMT gold sellers should be punished moving forward.

I would even say that ip / id bans should be retroactive so if you purchased any gold in the past you should 100% get a permanent ban.

As it stands there really isnt much risk in getting caught RMTing for gold. Allegedly gold buyers get a 14 day ban but clearly that isnt helping. At the VERY least they should get a 30 day ban and lose their $15 monthly fee along with the gold they purchased with possibly a further penalty taking more gold away or leaving them in a negative gold state.

What if you have multiple personalities, and one of them buys gold? Why would you punish the other person?

Boys will be boys. Just let them have their fun. No harm no foul.

Just remove classic servers and it will basically have the same effect

gold buying cannot be an issue… thats impossible!!! everyone said the GDKP ban was going to put an end to that… this must not be true

Except it overlooks one aspect. Many people buy gold because they can’t make it because of bots.

Sure there are several ways to make golds but one of the big ones was gathering. My warrior is only 55 but it is already apparent I will never get enough from herbalism as I thought I would, because the bots. Luckily, I don’t raid so money really isn’t important to me but for many not being able to make more than a hill of beans from professions is a big downer.

Sadly hardware ban would actually put in work and Blizzard would lose mass profits from their agreements and behind the scenes deals with the gold sellers. They keep it at account ban knowing 100% the boosters are just going to resubscribe on new accounts after they get banned.

it doesnt really over look it at all. if their customers are banned they wont have anyone left to sell gold to. theyll move on

also, no body was getting rich off herbalism in the first place (Except the alleged lotus bots) unless you have undeath to water transmute which i have seen listed as high at 2700g on ah (and cheapest at 1850 so will take months on end to make your money back). aside from black lotus i dont really have any problem at all farming any other high level herb with the exception of mountain silversage during peak hours. im still pulling around 10-15g per hour farming raw herbs and that number boosts when i sell them as finished pots/elixirs.

its not the highest GPH but it afforded me my epic mount and provides me with raid consumables that i can use and share with my guild.

Will never work because just like everywhere else on the internet, people will use proxy servers and VPN to skirt it.

you cant vpn a hardware ban though.

GDKP fans are getting a lot of mileage out of this one lol.

Gold buying appears to be common in Classic and those people join GDKPs as buyers. This isn’t hard to understand.

Banning GDKP without going after gold buyers & bots was a pointless move by Blizzard. Someone on the team must realize that.

GDKP ban was the worst decision by any studio of all time. The best created system for loot distribution wiped out.

i respectfully disagree that whoever bought the most gold getting the loot is anywhere close to being a good distribution system.

Just FYI: No not me I hate using Add Ons lol, but… Tools known as HWID spoofers can modify these identifiers to make your system appear as if it’s a different machine.

so? im not saying its a perfect fix. there is no one change that will solve the entire issue.

im aware they exist.

Virtual machines have unique HWIDs of their own as well. This logic would only affect people who play (bot) on a non-virtualized environment.

Keep dreaming. Blizzards largest playerbase in Asia revolves solely around gold buying. That’s how they play the game. They ain’t being banned there so don’t expect it on other servers
