Going to bed and waking up to a huge mailbox

Just saying, I love it, and it makes the profession system very fun.

Here we are, weeks later, and there is still value and fun to be found.

I started utilizing the public crafting orders two days ago (b/c double gathering while leveling) and now I see the real power in them. Very, very cool! I can put an order up for basically any item, kick-start or fuel a market for any item and there is great money money potential. Almost everything is instantly filled too, and some people even leave notes!

I know a lot of people on the forums are complaining, but I think it’s because they shot themselves in the foot and didn’t understand the value of investing talent points. It feels very vanilla-like, and I love it. In another month or two, whoever took the time to think things out is going to be BANKING HARDBODY with a loaded profession tree. BTW, it’s also very cool to see people on YouTube share their talent trees and see how much work people put into their professions. I respect that sort of stuff because it shows dedication.

So far, the profession system is a fantastic step in the right direction (more fun than anything I’ve seen since TBC). Not having a respec option for the noobs that blew their entire load in week 1 or week 2 kinda sucks. I’m not sure how I feel about the tinfoil hat conspiracy (being gold dump design), BUT, if that’s the case, perhaps make it so that people have to goldsink to unlearn talents… The dragon races apparently make 500g a pop, so maybe make it 500g a pop to respect each KP.

Totally! Having crafting orders filled and returning to a mailbox filled with progress items feels fantastic. The problem is inequity. There just aren’t the same kinds of valuable orders to be had from some (most?) professions, so some are being fed so much more than others. For every fun moment we have claiming that brand new item from our mailbox, there are dozens of other moments on the crafter side of thing that are just less great.

And I agree with you that the meaningful choices in the specialization trees feel great, and being without a respec feels super vanilla-like, but the balance and tooltipping of the trees themselves seems phoned in. Some professions have easier, clearer choices, and so maybe you got lucky to think things through in those spaces, but, by and large, whether it’s unforeseeable item rebalancing; DOA, non-BiS crafts; super hazy and misleading tooltip language; or all of the above really, this new system allows for situations where people do plan and think but still get trapped.

TL;DR I sort of agree with you, and the new system has some promise, but it’s a total design miss if this is the lasting iteration.

Once I wrapped my head around the fact that I only had so many points per week and that it was just a matter of being patient until the reset I was fine. I also decided to go the fun route and pick up engineering. No crafting orders to fill for people but I did discover it allowed for some interestingly increased efficiency on gathering raw materials that I can sell my extra’s that I don’t use myself. And I crack up every time I blow myself up or shrink myself.

Now if I can just convince Blizzard to lower the cooldown on the tinkers and bombs. At least for PvE.

This is exactly why I hate the profession system. There is no way I would have known certain markets would be bad or that certain talents would be bad. Some are even bugged and DO NOT WORK. Some were NERFED 3 weeks in. And you cant’ respec, so you’re just screwed.

Also rerolling or comming in a few weeks late makes the entire system pointless for you.

As an alchemist, it’s a total wash. No one’s putting up orders for phials or potions on my server. The only money I make is by selling all the random stuff I make through experimentation on the AH.

im making a ton of sells as an alchemist so im ok with no crafing orders though i do think they could have come up with a few more things for me to do. making one potion and 3 phials all expac will get lame.
