Hello. I noticed while derping around SM dungeons if you face your camera a certain way you can see the instance portals to the two old versions of scarlet monestary. Is there any way to get past these doors to explore it?

I don’t know but if there is I’d check it out. Wish they would have left SM the way it was. Update the bosses and the story but leave the four wings alone.
I always thought they should have put Old SM in CoT. This way people who have the Corrupted Ashbringer could still enjoy the RP event when you walk in wielding it.

Generally Blizzard wouldn’t block off a portal and nothing else – the portal should be disabled. Like for old Naxx. Portal exists. Doesn’t do anything.
You can explore, say, old Sunken Temple with some cheese because the location physically exists and you can bypass the portal that takes you to the new instance.
But SM isn’t a physical location AFAIK so you wouldn’t be able to do a similar thing even if you could get through the doors.

Nope not in retail and several others such as Shadowfang.
Only way gunna do that is if go and play in Classic.

Yeah, don’t try to get into the un-instance version of Stratholme, you can’t get stuck in the non fleshed out areas.

I’ve been there on accident. It’s kinda neat. I saw an untexctured floating thingie (nax???) but ended up getting stuck trying to get into the church and had to hearth. I tried to replicate getting in there and can’t loading into the instance instead.

Had to find a video to see what was once in the Sunken Temple. Now that I’ve watched it, I feel old.

I mean, we have old Naxx now.
Maybe the secret finding discord can figure it out. For all we know maybe there’s a back door to classic Warcraft we are ignoring that’s sitting there in the middle of someplace.
Then we could terrorize all the classic players. Or at least view the old world, pre cataclysm.

IIRC, there were items and unlock flags relating to “Unlocking Scarlet Monastery of Old” added in 10.1.7, indicating that they’re planning on giving us a way to access it again, but there isn’t actually a means to unlock it yet.
might be the 2-3 doors that are shut will be the old SM
They have literally removed the entrance to Old Naxx once it moved to Northrend. It was a zigurat-ish building that is gone. Now they have a crystal there that teleports you to new naxx once you complete the mysteries of Naxxramas.
well naxx is still in the the area but moved behind stratholm
its kind of hard to explain but if players can get behind strat the can see a naxx ghost outline or a green shell of old naxx
OK that might be texture leftover whatsoever, but the old Naxx portal does not exist, they have removed the building and the portal from the area where it was placed before.
You can check some classic videos to see that building, and if you go into Classic WoTLK it isn’t there anymore.
OH this would be both fun and hysterical.
