Going Alliance Priest and needing help on race

Im making a Priest on Classic with my Warrior tank friend and a few others and im struggling to decide what race to choose from, my friend is going Human Warrior so i planned to just roll a Human with him so i don’t need to run for awhile if i were a Night Elf or Dwarf but whenever i think of Fear Ward and how big people have made it out to be i rethink my choice.
I personally like both Human Female and Dwarf Female animations i just really don’t like how Dwarves look and im struggling to make something that i’d like looking at.

Im worried of not being taken to raids or dungeons because i chose Human other than Dwarf or getting a lot of complaints about it, i don’t plan to go hardcore but i’d still like to raid at a decent level.
I never played in vanilla myself so i really don’t know how big of a thing it actually was but i still assume its very good, i myself know someone who played a Human Priest in vanilla and they just said “It felt sad seeing Dwarves with Fear Ward and i’m just sitting here with Desperate Prayer”.

It’s been pretty hard to decide on a race and i’ve been trying to make a decision for the past week but i’m really bad at choosing because i do like Human for the spirit bonus and the rep bonus and aesthetically i do like them more but then i think of Fear Ward and Stoneform.

Any tips or advice would be very appreciated

TLDR: Can’t choose between Human or Dwarf because i’m bad at decisions and would like some help.

Just go Drawf. Take the tram from IF to SW and level with your friends there. But even IF you go human you won’t be excluded from anything as not every priest in a raid requires FW.

If you’re want the META then you have to go dwarf as they’re the only ones who get fear ward, but if you’re not minmaxing then I say go human, spirit is nice and less rep to grind is always a bonus.

play what you want to play. nothing more important than that.
you’re playing a healer, you’ll get a spot.

If you prefer human over dwarf go human, what others think of your race shouldn’t affect you, and if they do exile you for that they arn’t the people you want to run with. And fear ward is great but this is vanilla, it won’t make or break your runs.

I think human makes more sense. The spirit and diplomacy are great for PVE and you can farm rep with your friend and you’ll finish rep at the same time. Fear ward plus stoneform is exceptionally useful in PVP but not used much in PVE.

Thanks for the replies!

I definitely do plan on still rolling with Human i just keep getting stuck rethinking because of how much i heard about Dwarf Priests being really good but i do think Diplomacy and the spirit boost will come in handy

Their both very good, and dont under estimate the extra human spirit, there is only a few fights where fear ward matters, unless you pvp alot… in pve spirit will help in ALL fights since you are more likely to vrestle with mana

What? FW and SF certainly help A LOT in some raids.

Healing priests will always be in demand, fear ward or no.

So much misinformation in this thread.

Human spirit is bad. Even at levels of 500 spirit it isn’t good.

I suggest you google the priest discord as I can’t link it on here, they can answer with math on why human spirit is bad.

Dwarf racial is just superior in every way for pve and PvP.

Stoneform is useful in pve, removing poisons off you is a godsend in some raids, along with bleeds. Mostly poisons though, Naxx and AQ I’m looking at you.

Fear Ward is amazing in pve and PvP. Yes only some bosses fear but what it does is allow you to trivialize content at the start, you can do a lot of stuff with it for the 5 or so bosses who do fear.

It should be a Night Elf. This is the only viable priest choice in classic.

Shadowmeld

'nough said.

It takes literally minutes to run to Stormwind, from the Night elf areas, if you do it around level 5 when any other Night elf is doing it (corpse “leap frogging” across the wetlands.) If you are going to do it alone, I’d wait until level 10.

Then you just take the dwarf tram once you get to IF. The main thing is crossing far enough across the Wetlands, after which it is easy sailing to Ironforge.

I played an NE Holy Priest, in beta phase 3/4/the Open beta and (rebuilt for) Vanilla. This is her:

https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/character/us/baelgun/kylathia

She did the Wetlands run, solo, at level 10. Later, my NE Hunter did the same thing at level 10.

Do you want to be “superior” (whatever that means), with the Dwarf racial, or do you want to be beautiful with the ability to Shadowmeld? Seems like an easy choice.

I did the Wetlands run again, in the Classic stress test on an NE Hunter, at level 5. BOOM I’m in Stormwind, BOOM!

Well end game yeah but it is certainly poternt for leveling.

You’re cute but so wrong. Are you trolling us?

The fear ward hype is nearing meme territory at this point. Play whatever you want to look at for the next few months/years.

Atoja in a raid “Okay team, I’m going to need the priest fear ward on this boss”

Atoja in a raid. Clicks his stance dance macro that negates fear.

Dude, if someone is griefing you coz of your race… you’re on the wrong server or something. I never met people on that level of douche! Making the run is good fun or find a mage ahead of time to port you. Night elf for priests for sure, how can you resist those ears and their casting animation is cute.

I’ll be rolling Night Elf priest, I did the same thing when I first played classic and that shadow-meld ability helped me out more times than I can count, when it comes down to it just play whatever you think looks the best to you, you’re gonna be looking at this character for a loooong time so might as well make it one that you won’t regret making.

I vaguely remember priests getting different class abilities which sometimes people confuse with the base racial abilities. Just to clarify we’re all referring to the same thing google: priest racial abilities in wow classic. I choose Nelf because of starshards (dps) and elunes grace (def). Neither of these spells was a game changer but it was fun leveling with these spells.
