This is a spoiler talk about GvsK, if youre still reading this then you either saw the movie or you wanna be spoiled, you’ve been warned.
Well, Godzilla won the battle between the two, kinda expected tbh, but in Kong’s defense, he doesnt have much experience fighting someone on equal level as him, unlike Godzilla who does have it, against the MUTO and Ghidorah as examples, all Kong as really fought so far were the Skullcrawlers which are way weaker than any of them.
Also Mechagodzilla completely wiped the floor (or city) with Godzilla, like it wasnt even a fight, that thing sure was strong, like not even Ghidorah dominated him to such extend.
And about Ghidorah, possible return? his consciousness appears to still be alive to some extend in what remains of him, since it took control of MG, so who knows if its possible for the three headed dragon to return at one point.
Pretty happy with it. The intro to Hollow Earth is a nice touch and I’d love Kong to find a few others as they kinda pumped up that angle in Skull Island. That area opens up a lot of ground for the future.
It’s nice seeing the old monsters in full glorious CGI instead of the old body suits. My, how things have changed.
One thing i liked about Mechagodzilla is how it they didnt made him identical to Godzilla like other versions, basically by making his design fix Godzilla’s main flaws, such has lack of Speed or Agility, which shows that MG was truly meant to surpass his original in every way, which he did.
After watching it I felt like a child again. Fights were amazing and I love the new Mechagodzilla aka the new Kiryu. Mechagodzilla is no pushover and I think he is the strongest Mechagodzilla to date. Human story needs work but wasn’t bad compare to KOTM. I would love to see Monsterverse but money talks.
Loved everything wiith Zilla and Kong, but holy crap are the human parts so mind numbingly stupid.
Like the evil daughter of evil CEO: “Hey, we are trapped in the Hollow earth with Kong, lets threaten the little girl he loves right in front of him. What could go wrong?” or “Hey, kong is standing next to a giant hole we want to use. Instead of just flyinig by him, where he will probably ignore us, lets instead shoot him with guns we KNOW wont hurt him, just to piss him off! What could go wrong?”
Holy. ****ing crap she was dumb.
Also, Mille Bobbie Brown and the rest of Team Zilla did absolutely nothing in this movie. What a waste of screen time.
And what I dont get is why they needed Kong to get to the Hallow Earth? Seemed like the entrance was only a mile in from the surface, and while Kong helped lead them to the “energy” source, they could have just sent expeditions in for a few weeks to find it themselves.
Partially as bodyguard i suppose, we saw how easily those ships got destroyed by the monsters there, they would have gotten wiped out easily without him.
Well, we only saw the one actual skull for King Ghidora. The one of the three people in that place speculated that another of Ghidora’s heads was in Mecha Godzilla but if you watch closely when Mecha Godzilla’s head get ripped off you see a bunch of metal and electronics and nothing else so it’s really doubtful.
If i am right it COULD potentially open the path to doing Mecha King Ghidora.
Skip to the 54 second mark on the video i’m posting.
So it IS possible if they want to do another movie. I hear the movie reviews for it are not very good though. I mean it wasn’t as good as King Of The Monsters but i thought it was at least as good as Infinity War (though not as good as End Game).
The Mecha Godzilla look was ok, i mean it could look worse, but my favorite Mecha Godzilla is Kiryu. I wish they had made it look closer to Kiryu rather than something out of Pacific Rim.
Like many others have said here I was absolutley thrilled with everything Kaiju related when it came to get movie. Certainly so as a lifelong Godzilla fan. I think getting to see him represented as this force of nature while Kong played the emotional side of things was perfect too.
Also, this take on MechaGodzilla was beautiful. While it would have been fun to see him disguised and maybe being an imposter who was making our boy look bad I get they wanted something fresh. And the whole take with Ghidorah was perfect. My only complaints in the movie deal with the human side of things. As was mentioned earlier I felt like Millie Bobby Browns team was pointless, especially her friend and the “janitor conspiracist”. Those involved with Kong were much more relatable and had a story to tell that felt genuine. Milly on three other hand was better used in the last movie.
Either way I had way too much fun watching this. I can’t wait to see what they decided to do next with both franchises. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for exciting stuff.
Actually apparently there was some review bombing or something.
I actually found it really good, the whole point of the designs of the MonsterVerse is to make the monsters look realistic, so having MechaGodzilla look the way he did made sense looking like a mechanized monster, unlike the previous versions which lets be real, looked more like a toy.
Its just how it is due to the usual designs of the time, now, everything as advanced far more which allow for far more complex designs, most of old robot designs looked like toys compared to more current ones, not saying they bad, just… outdated?
And like i said MonsterVerse is looking to make the designs more realistic, and it makes sense for them to no be fully loyal to Godzilla’s appearance since they intended MG to be superior to him in every way, such as agility and speed
Someone is triggered, and are you genially gonna tell me that old designs look more complex than the MonsterVerse version?
How is that making him look worse? i said realistic, having him look like old version wouldnt have worked unless they were heavily modified, cause old designs would have looked silly in the MonsterVerse adaptation, and the same goes for the other monsters, not just MG.
Kong isn’t really evenly matched with Godzilla. I think Kong was shown to be the better fighter, but ultimately it doesn’t matter because Godzilla is naturally more powerful and tougher than Kong.
Mechagodzilla had the upper hand because Godzilla seemed worn out from the fight it he just had with Kong.
I have only one critic and is the insane plot armor that the big G got in the 2 fight.
1- He’s not that fast. The fact that he was keeping up in speed with Kong is bs to me.
2- His infinite atomic breath. Remember when he had to charge his breath? And it only lasted for about 10 seconds?
Phew, now that is out of my system. Loved the movie, really curious on how they will expand the hollow earth and exited for a rematch where big monke kicks some lizzard butt
Snyder fandom are review bombing because WB doesn’t want to do Snyderverse. These people are idiots, Legendary is making this movie while WB is Distributer. But they failed Rotten Tomatoes gave GvK a flesh and movie just hit 300M dollars word wide.
I like the MV Mechagodzilla design but yea Kiryu is best looking Mechagodzilla to date. I love they tribute this.
I need a Godzilla decal for my car. I just do. I’m probably going to spend an hour on Etsy until I find one I like.
I don’t mind them modernizing them at all, but I am not much of a purist. Given how long Godzilla has been around, I enjoy seeing different artistic takes. To me its a bit like a comic book character getting a new suit. I even liked the big iguana Godzilla. There. I said it.
/gauntlet thrown!
Well Legendary said how they wanted the creatures to look realistic and not exaggerated, and so far they have done it so well with their designs, even studying animals and all to model them after.
One take on Kong was how they wanted him to look like his own species, rather than just a giant gorilla like the 2005 version, which is why they have him stand largely on two feet rather than all four.
With Godzilla they wanted him to look Noble and Majestic, with his appearance being between cute and threatening.
