According to The Hollywood Reporter, Godzilla Minus Zero will be a “darker, more expansive monster mythoscape” and “is being positioned not just as a sequel but as a statement piece.” The articles also states Toho are locking in a late-2026 global release.
If you haven’t seen Minus One, Go and see it. Its really one best Godzilla film that we had in a long while.
Same director and writer as Minus One, so the film’s in good hands.
Minus One is currently on Netflix, in both color and black and white. The reason there’s a black and white version is because it’s set in post WWII Japan. The main character is a Kamikaze pilot that survived WWII and has both survivor’s guilt and PTSD. Returning to a country decimated by war. And we, the audience, see the aftermath of the allied bombing raids, which killed more people than both of the nukes, and the citizens having to pick up their lives afterwards.
Unlike 2016’s Shin Gojira, directed by Hideaki Anno (Evangelion) and Shinji Higuchi, there’s almost no government involvement to be seen here. Which is more true to life historically.

I have faith with Yamazaki and his team and they know how to make a good movie and that something that hollywood had been struggling lately with story telling and good visual effect What I been hearing that there’s another kajiu that will face Godzilla. Some think its new kajiu, other think its Angurius. But Yamazki did said if he made a sequel and used any classic kajiu from the Godzilla serise he would pick Hedorah. He pointed it out that you do some great visual effect on him that would be harder to do with him as a suit. I say Let Yamazki cook.
As Minus One proved, it’s not the budget but the film crew that makes a good movie. There’s also the fact that Yamazaki wrote the script, directed it and was the VFX supervisor. Cutting out all the studio suits that usually stand between a director and VFX supervisor and thus reducing the budget. As well as recreating the Shinden short range fighter so well that they could donate it to a museum and write it off. I watched and read way too much about Minus One’s making of.

I have had it for a long while. Why you say the Nov 2026? I got way before then. Very good movie.
Because November 3rd is Japan’s national holiday “Culture day” which it’s pretty big holiday for the Japanese and also Godzilla’s birthday. Japan will get Godzilla Minus Zero on November 3rd and we will get on November 6th. We only have to avoid the internet for less than 3 days vs. A month from the last film.
Almost 2 weeks from now we got monarch season 2 with both Godzilla, Kong and a new kajiu called Titan X. Next year we got GxK Supernova that very likely that Spacegodzilla will be the main villain.
