Godspeed Holinka!

avoidance/dodge is also the same as a heal?

Sure.

If you hadnā€™t dodged all that damage, your healer would have had to heal it.

If we consider PvE tanking, some tanks avoid damage, while some tanks take the damage and then have to heal it. That way things are balanced.

so any melee attack is a 100% hit chance, and anying done to circumvent it, is a ā€˜healā€™?

When you consider the big picture, everything comes down to effective damage and effective heals.

When effective damage = your hp + effective heals, you die.

no youā€™re incorrect

a heal restores lost HP

avoiding it prevents damage from being landed in the first place - it hasnā€™t been determined that the damage was done by automatic gainsay

youā€™re changing the definitions and rules of play

The funny thing is, I donā€™t think Holinka even said that ā€” blink is a heal.

He was comparing defensive capabilities and their visibility on scoreboards. Hybrid healing to counter damage taken shows up on the scoreboard. Blinking away from incoming damage does not.

If you just focus on the scoreboard numbers, you can be led astray.

Today is Holinkaā€™s last day at Blizzard.

No actually itā€™s not. It falls under the category of survival abilities (which healing also falls under) within the trinity of ā€œrock paper scissorsā€ or damage vs survival vs mobility.

Doesnā€™t matter whoā€™s responsible, PvP is not in a good state at all. There was some good changes to the game on the whole with dragonflight, but thereā€™s so much more harm than good as it presently stands.

Whenever they started introducing different ability functions/strengths between PvE and PvP, especially without it being known to the player via tooltips, thatā€™s when real harm started being done to the gameā€™s population (again). Whatever strengths dragonflight has, it has even worse weaknesses the way things are implemented right now.

Someone has attempted to make PvP casual and PvE more twitchy/intenseā€¦ which is completely backwards to what the customers/players want. PvP is supposed to be intense twitchy gameplay, PvE is supposed to be laid back casual experience that is semi-mindless and low stress - the exception being raids kindof (most raiders still want casual laid-back encounters - this is a social game for them and a way to unwind from the stress of the day, not something that gets their adrenaline/blood pressure going/extreme focus/high stress).

I have zero confidence in current leadership because thatā€™s what the numbers reflect, poor performance.
