Does anyone still appreciate the talent this band had? It is a rock band for those that don’t know

Eh, debatable.
They were an AiC cover band that got a lucky break. Their music is/was mediocre.

were they lucky? pretty talented singer and music is very easy to listen to if you like rock.

Yeah they managed to meet the right people, got a record deal. Whoever was their manager and promoter did a heck of a job but they weren’t anything special.
I can’t even remember the last time before tonight I heard anyone talk about them. Maybe 15-20 years ago when I was talking with my Dad and his buddy.

Serenity was a favorite song of mine in high school.
Now I rarely listen to them.
Forgot they existed until this thread TBH.

does that change their music. I am mid 30s and hardly listened to godsmack when they were relevant. Now, I can appreciate their music. To me they are the epitome of Rock music. The drums, the vocals and how they play with the guitars is fantastic. Metallica is fantastic too but everyone knows metallica

i was into em back in the day, now, my musical taste has narrowed greatly. ill find some new bands here and there, but i pretty much just listen to Slipknot these days, with some Nekrogoblikon and Wheeler Walker Jr. the hard drive in my truck is full of stuff, that i mostly skip songs till i get to one of those bands…
BUT! Funny you mention them as Awake came on the shuffle today and i listened to it and got some nostalgia and enjoyed it again.

to me slipknot is heavy metal/rock. godsmack is rock.
They’re good. You ever hear of Soilwork? They’re pretty cool too

trust me when i say this was implied. What kind of music do you listen to and would love to hear a band you like.
I can understand that its not everyone’s type of music but them and linkin park were what got me into modern rock.
I can also never tell if its someone who just goes along with an opinion like nickleback sucks. They didn’t write as many number one songs as they did because they suck. And animals is great no matter no matter what people think of the band.

Think they made their break in 2000 with Voodoo.
Wow that was released in 97. I didn’t hear it on the radio until 2000 and than it was played at least once every half hour.
This band was cool like 15 yrs ago when I was an edgy kid / teen.
Now it just sounds like they sing with rocks in their mouth. Every song the same. Just like Tool.

Rock, metal, alternative, alt rock, and a little bit of everything else except country music which I’ve really never enjoyed at all.
First band that comes to mind would be Sevendust.
I like a lot of the big ones that started around the late 80s/90s like Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, STP(Stone Temple Pilots).
Godsmack just never did it for me. Just never feeling their stuff.
I’ll admit Nickleback put out a few good ones early on.
Then they went off the rails imo, but hey they made bank doing it.
Linkin Park did some really solid interesting stuff.
I get that whenever Whitney Houston or Maria Carrie comes on the radio I actually wince. Their high pitched voices is like a dog whistle to me.
I’ve been listening to a lot of techno, bagpipes, irish drinking music, and folk metal lately.
