God modding question

So,

As a goblin roleplayer especially being a non casting class I seem to encounter lots of people in roleplay that their first remark to a goblin roleplaying in a circle seems to be to ask if I’m trying to fight and even when I state no and try to just move around the odd connotation in the moment it seems like people always go to how they are going to step on me or some. other ridiculous reaction to regular roleplay.

Then when I try to defend myself it turns to people saying how I would never win and how I’m picking fights because I have to basically blatantly explain to people in roleplay that if everything that was bigger then a goblin could kill us we would go extinct faster then the dodo did.

Is it godmodding to immediately just jump to using that to how I was talking in a group and my TRP3 says I don’t consent to death in roleplay.

My character is actually non violent normally and I find it pretty rude when people just straight up ignore TRP’s on a ego trip just because you said something and your a smaller race. You wouldn’t do it with a orc or Tauren but when a goblin says something they take out of context they turn it into how they’re going to end my character.

Really not cool.

I feel for you, my Gob-bro.
Gobro?
We’re not small, they’re just tall. They didn’t choose to be that way, so it’s not their fault. They tend to overlook what’s right in front of them. It’s in their nature.

I don’t tend to run into many as aggressive as the ones you’ve described. The many I encounter tend to think me funny. Like I’m some kind of joke, just for being. That’s their loss, really. It may well be that these taller folk are jealous of the distinct advantages our stature gives us. They’re also likely threatened by our genius intellects and intuitive abilities to more efficiently solve problems. Perhaps that’s why they’re so aggressive toward you?

To more directly answer your question…

I wouldn’t say it’s godmodding to misunderstand or misinterpret your character’s dialog. I’d say that’s just a fault on the part of the player’s. Perhaps you’re speaking in a manner that comes off as aggressive, which is easy to do with Goblins. They’re generally pretty aggressive, direct, and deliberate in speech and action. At least, as far as I’ve seen Blizzard tend to show them. The other fault of course being the other player not taking the time to really consider the situation, and then doing the polite thing and whispering you directly to clarify misunderstandings. It is rude to just jump to conclusions.

I think it would be godmodding, however, to then insist that “this is what your character meant” or “this is what you really meant”, and then drive forward with that concept. That attempts to take agency away from you and your character. I say “attempts” because no one can actually take that away from you. Only you can give it away, but I’m sure you’re aware of that.

It’s frustrating when you run into situations like this. Try and stay positive throughout and keep up the RP. We’re all here to have some fun.

Only a thread about characters of small stature being picked on could unite goblins and gnomes. So wholesome.
