I’ve heard lots of people say that they’re must haves for PVP but I don’t know why they’d be better than any other bomb. Someone explain?
Playing a UD shadow priest, planning on doing PVP only at 60.
You can use Sapper charges without any Engineering specialization.
You go goblin engi if you want to craft them yourself tho, and an everlook teleport on a 4hr cooldown.
Some people like me roll gnomish engineering, craft all the soulbound trinkets and gadgets, then reroll goblin engineering, if you find an everlook teleport more convenient (I do for Azuregos and Rich thoriums) and the ability to craft your own sappers.
It’s a huge advantage, one of many that engineering gives. It’s definitely worth taking engineering, you can use sappers without goblin though.
Sappers do considerably more damage than other grenades but they don’t stun/interrupt. The power of sapper is coordinating it with other sappers, the damage from a solo user isn’t enough to burst a team down.

This. A team of sappers simultaneously recalling can charge in and wipe a drek/vann pull causing yuuuge damage to the enemy team with relatively few people.
