Goblin Lore and RP question

Hey all !

It’s me again, i have chosen to create a Goblin for my Horde character and had a few questions for the lore experts/goblin enthusiasts out there.

How possible is it for a goblin to have been born in Outland? I Know the had some sort of settlement in Netherstorm from my recollection?

Do goblins have to consume kajamite in order to stay smart ? or has that now become a permanent trait of their race?

Hoo boy.

Okay. So it was a long time ago the Pook had a little bit too much to drink and I met this goblin in Nagrand and we kinda hit things off and long story short, 9 months later we dropped off a little bundle at Challe’s daycare.

One of us should probably go back and check up on the little guy.

We don’t know much about Goblin family structures outside of the fact that they breed like rabbits, and can quickly over populate areas in which they settle.

I don’t know when Goblins first landed in Outland. Don’t quote me, they could have snuck through the Dark Portal (I can’t find anything that suggests this but someone else might???), but had a pretty substantial set up when we get there in Year 26 (14 years ago in game canon).

You could say that maybe their parents snuck through the Dark Portal, or arrived there as hired labour with the various other groups that went through. Lore - to my understanding - is a bit iffy on the subject.

It used to be that Goblins were slowly loosing their intelligence without access to Kajamite, but that hasn’t really come up in lore since which leads me to believe it’s probably a story beat that’s been forgotten.

My understanding is that Kajamite has plateaued the Goblin intelligence, leaving them as they are now without getting smarter and not having a biological dependence. They did find more Kajamite in Zandalar, so I don’t know if access is an issue really.

I could be wrong, this is just my understanding of lore. Please take it with as many grains of salt as you wish.

Thank you for the info! I think im gonna try and make my goblin from outland, ill try to do some more research to see what makes most sense to fit!

So it should be safe for me to ignore this for the most part then XD which is good i guess, otherwise id struggle figuring out outland kajamite lmao

Between goblins that were Horde loyal during the 2nd war that got stranded on the Outland side of the portal following the 2nd war. To the timegap between Burning Crusade to now. I think it’s fairly safe to say that you could have a goblin that’s from Outland at this point. I actually have a goblin monk who’s from Area 52 ICly.

I know you posted nine days ago, but I just wanted to throw in a detail that hasn’t been mentioned: Goblins got to Draenor via Deathwing. When Ner’zhul opened the Dark Portal, Deathwing moved in and lived on Draenor for a while. He’s also employed goblins for the longest time; arguably his metal armor and the Demon Soul are the height of goblin engineering. And likewise, I don’t think goblins are “getting dumber” today, but the Demon Soul is almost mystical level of power and their alchemists and engineers are not making anything like that these days.

Thought I add what I could recall that some goblins did flee with the horde after the end of the second war. So it makes sense they would have tried to make a life there
