No, they didn’t. A rogue Gnome who wanted power for himself, tricked Geblin into opening the machine valves, which spewed radiation into the city. Later on that same Gnome, Sicco, would detonate a radiation bomb in an attempt to thwart Geblin’s plan to re-take the city.
There was no plan to actively radiate the city, understand?

I always wonder if anyone has figured out which group of people the gnomes represent. Each race represents a real culture and I’m always bemused by the antics of gnomes and how well they reflect their real-life counterparts.
