LAST EDIT - NO WE DID NOT TRADE ITEMS AND I RECEIVED NO GOLD/NO TRADE WAS MADE
SO, im a gm and raidlead for context; and this is talking about the item “World Shrinker” - a green quality item, soulbound, cosmetic, non-equip dropping off Crowd Pummeler.
The Item World Shrinker dropped; I luckily won it with a 95; I did not know it would be non-tradeable. I’m thankful it is non-tradeable though(1/3)
because our Warlock offered to buy this vanity - non equipped, toy item. It’s not gear. Not performance enhancing; but he wanted to spend 10-20g on it. Again THANKFUL ITS NOT TRADEABLE and this is ultimately my question; if we would have traded - a toy for 20g; (2/3)
would this have caused us to get banned? It was an all guild run; it’s not gear; it’s not equip able. I was so scared when a guildy said in Disc “Omg yall are gonna catch a ban now” sarcastically; but it hit me…GDKP rules. Would this have triggered the system/ban?
again, thankfully it didn’t happen/was impossible to happen because it’s a non-tradeable cosmetic. I just wanna know if my friend/lock raider gave me 20g as compensation for it if it would have banned us/stopped our guilds raids for 2 weeks or more by being banned.
tweeted to aggrend for clarification, its a theoretical; im just wondering what you all think.
I to be honest understand when it comes to items, trinkets, character power — but something like this, its very simple and easy to forget. Especially in a whole guild run
idk man, I don’t really farm and I’m doing fine. Then again, I don’t feel the need to buy expensive BOE’s or think I need full consumes at all times lol
Well - end of the day - I think we all agree that this could’ve been easily overlooked - but I’m glad it wasn’t tradeable at the end of the day. Everyone just be careful. I only made the post for awareness. It would technically have been against the current TOS: but no trade was made- luckily bc it was a soulbound item. I got lucky.
I will follow up if Aggrend DM’s me/if I get a blue response.
TBH - I was just gonna give to him but he wanted to donate to the Gbank for consumes so I Was like “Ok; Ill give you the toy” but… you’re right. It would be breaking this games version of TOS ---- I am VERY lucky this item turned out to be untradeable. Unlike all the other drops we got. I just was not thinking, thankfully an officer said “Wait wait wait; the GDKP rules” -
I’d still not do it even if Aggrend replies that it is not a violation. If you are trading an item for gold after a raid drop, the algorithm will probably flag it and you and your guildmate will be banned. If you appeal the ban, the reply will be the standard AI response that it will be upheld. It’s simply not worth it, even if Aggrend says its okay.
Yeah it wasnt like a required BUY THIS TOY he just wanted to donate something to the gbank for consumes in trade for the toy - thankfully soulbound. didnt want the algorithm to ban me.
Perhaps I’m a bit cynical but I am not 100% sure I’m buying this story.
I think OP is testing the waters with seeing if people think giving an item to someone for free and then said person wants to “donate” to the guild bank for consumables appears to be ok and free of any GDKP rules.
I mean this could be 100% accurate but my inner self says something is just a bit off.
i mean… idc about 20g; it was just for FAPS and NPP - but this is more of a community warning to NOT engage in this type of activity - because its easy to be passive in thought on an item thats not equippable and totally cosmetic. you do you.
this also comes from a warlock that wants to start guild raffles and etc and I just completely deny it as GM due to all the bans going out to innocent players
You won’t be getting a rise out of me; bc there are people selling Uldaman blues for 300g; Through the AH: and getting automated bans. That’s a fact. But thanks for your entertainment “Radalpho”. And sure; I can clarify further for you; Not everyone getting banned is innocent; thats asinine for you to state. I am saying though that there are bans going out to people just selling blues. Not in raid; Selling blues. That’s true. Research my friend.
Honestly I believe bans of “innocent” players are few and far between. I think it far more likely that people making trades or have suspicious movement of gold may be flagged by the system based on the circumstances surrounding the trade, and when reviewed, other things are found that result in a ban - possibly even activity that occurred in Classic, TBC or Wrath. I know everyone loves to repeat the AI mantra and claim that no human beings are involved in bans but I sincerely do not believe this to be true. AI may set the initial flags but no bans are issued without a person reviewing them. This has been repeatedly stated by Customer Service.
