Gnome Starting Zone proves We're missing a class

It isn’t really, Tinkers have been around for like, 20 years.

One of the things that makes WarCraft so cool is how Magic, Medieval fantasy, and Technology all line up together.
Orcs are Aliens. ETC.

Necromancy is a big part of WoW and I wouldn’t mind it.

But I think Tinkers are more Likely.

Necromancers step on Death Knights.
And Tinkers are already Partially developed.

I’d put my bets on Tinkers. Considering there’s also Tinkers on the New Tutorial Island.

Tinkers are Annoying as hell in Warcraft 3. Tons of CC and immunity to CC.
A wonderful combo.

Still better than Bard Lol.

There are also Necromancers in the new tutorial… and Necromancers step on Death Knights as far as Priests step on Paladins… and with the introduction of Demon Hunters blizzard showed they aren’t afraid to add a popular class that shares some fantasy and lore with an existing class either.

Not saying I don’t want Tinkers though… just saying Necromancers have just as much of a chance…

As a necromancer main in d2 i’d love to see them in wow but, i don’t see how we’d really distinguish them playstyle wise enough to really be worth more than a spec thats just: demo with skeletons instead of imps, or mage but with bone flavored spells.

as the bad guys.

I mean the Characters you team up with in that Zone all give you a specific class quest. Except the Tinker Character, who doesn’t give anyone a class quest.

Yet

There isn’t a Necromancer character on that boat crew.

This is a little Different.

Priests and Paladins both use the Light, sure.

But Priests also use Shadow, in fact priests are supposed to be emblematic of several different religions on Azeroth.

Priests also have Abilities from the Dark Ranger Hero from WC3, and an entire Shadow Spec, where Paladins are clearly based on the Paladin Hero.

However Death Knights literally summon and command the dead as one of their specializations, they use Bone, Blood, and Ice Magic too. It would VERY DELIBERATELY overlap with Necromancer.

Hold on, Demon Hunters were entirely separate, Warlock had Metamorphosis before them. But Metamorphosis was ALWAYS a Demon Hunter ability in Warcraft 3.

Warlock has abilities from Dreadlord and Pitlord. Rain of Fire, Doom, Summon Infernal.

There definitely more “Creative Room” for Tinker

Goblins are better.

NVM I don’t support tinkers anymore.

Seriously though, the only reason I don’t have any gnome characters is because they dont have tinkers. I like gnomes. But I can’t play one

You can have professions and classes in the same game.
Crazy, I know.

Rogues have Poisons, but Alchemists have oils

Shamans have Enhancements, but Enchanters have Enchantments

So Engineers can have their Gizmos, and Tinkers can have Gadgets

I agree.

But i still want Necromancer

I dont dislike the Idea of a Necromancer.
But I do think tinker is much more likely.

We even have Island expo teams for Tinkers.

I hate that tinkerers have a better chance of beign real before Necros.

Because I am mad at shadowlands, it was the perfect time to make necros a reality. But halas, we got nothing.

I am sorry you feel that way, honestly.

I feel like the Reason we didn’t get Necros is because Death Knights are such a similar fantasy.

We already have a class that can summon skeletons and such to fight, so I don’t think Blizzard wanted more.

But it sucks to not get to live out a fantasy in WoW, that’s the whole point of this thread

I agree Shadowlands was the Right Time, but, as I said. Tinkers seem like they’re on the way due to all the work blizz has already done for them

WoD was a good time for tikerers tbh.

If you ask me, Vanilla, BC, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, WoD, and BFA were all a great time for Tinkers. They’re alllll over every expansion

I dont see them on classic.
Neither on bc
WoTLK? Yes. We got the origins of the gnomes there.
Cata, not so much
WoD? Yes. It was very industrial and it could have beem an amazing pair.

Tinker class identity is already partially occupied by engineering.

I would personally prefer if blizzard make engineering fun and good again, turrets, bombs and mechanical minions and goggles that can spot stealthed creatures, just need blizzard to stop releasing them as being horribly under tuned. Give some of these cast times if need be.

Tinkers already exist, it’s called engineering.

You can have a Class and a Profession that have similar things.

Shamans have special Enhancements, but we have enchanters.
Rogues have Posion, But Alchemists have Oils.

We could have a Tinker Class and an Engineering profession. It would be great.

Here’s the thing, you have to understand that this WONT Happen.

If they make a profession that is profound and strong in its own way, then every DPS will need to pick up that profession to be competitive.

If Engineering can drop turrets that provide serious DPS, then Every single DPS will need to bring those turrets. I dont want to see every Warlock and Mage building turrets for their DPS, that would break the fantasy of the class hard.

Blizzard wants to Avoid this, and that’s why we don’t get Abilities like on Engineering, it’s a NIGHTMARE to balance.

Those abilities could stand on their own however as their own, separate class.

It would be MUCH better in my opinion if Engineering focused on things that make them a unique profession without affecting combat.
Jeeves, Battle Reses, Belt and Cape Tinkers, Gliders, Guns, and Scopes.
These are really good and should be reiterated on every expansion, just like we get new flasks and new enchants every expansion.

Tinker would be cool with me, if only because it’s a solid break from the gloomy doomy shadow-edge stuff. We have more than enough of those classes already.

Ab-so-lutely.

Too much edge, not enough WarCraft
