I’m curious to know if the gnome racial Expansive Mind (+5% increased mana) has any kind of impact for Arcane mages in end game pve content? I’m thinking it might allow to cast an additional Arcane Blast before oom, but maybe it’s not even enough for that.
Unfortunately this racial has become useless for Frost and Fire, since mana is basically a blue decorative bar for those specs, you can’t run out of mana. Same thing for warlocks, and I think it doesn’t even work for shadow priests’ insanity, since mana is used for healing and utility spells only.
It’s not that serious. Orcs’ 1% increased pet damage is wasted for classes that don’t have pets, as you’d imagine. This scenario is like that.
Your throughput racial is the one that provides you with haste and your utility racial is the one that breaks roots. The mana is just a bonus, like taking 1% less damage from nature sources for Tauren. It’s intended to be low impact.
That difference should amount to a DPS gain in arcane’s case but it will be extremely small, if not totally inconsequential.

Given that how arcane works, you only go oom roughly once every 90 seconds after finishing your burn phase. Even if the racial allowed you to get in an extra AB, it’s going to be one that’s not modified by your 3x equipoise and thus I suspect pretty inconsequential overall.
