Gnome priests are an abomination to lore

I know I’m about 10 years too late on this but really blizzard ?
gnome priests ?
Wasn’t the excuse for not having them in the first place along the lines that gnomes are too rational to mesh with the light ?what changed ???

You mean Gnome Druids?

I agree. Lets round up all gnomes and toss them in a fire. We must be careful not to roast them TOO long. Just enough to seal in the juices.

I can see how rational thinking and religion could be opposed in our real world.
That said, in Azeroth the Light is a real force you can understand and manipulate, so I don’t see the problem with gnome priests.

That’s kind of a weird excuse to begin with. I mean we live in a world where a guy can throw fireballs at people, turn them into a frog, and make injuries that would kill someone in today’s world go away with the snap of a finger. Its not rational to believe there isn’t some higher power with this stuff, its delusional.

When the light becomes more than faith in lore with stuff like naruu and loa and physical beings of light i think dabbling in its magics become more than rational. I think gnome paladins will be here soon.

Would you stop that! lol Gnomes are friends not food!

You’re an elf with horns growing out of your head. Oh wait, you said lore. Not just in general. Kidding!
/gets mirror ready in case of laser beam eyes

I’d like all of the above, thank you.

Religious people can be intellectual/rational too. They might not often opt for it  but societies like the Jesuits exist because those states of mind are not necessarily mutually exclusive, either.

Also this.

Mirrors don’t work on demon hunters.

Though we are elves, we are blind. So mirrors can’t distract us. It’s why we are always crying for attention, we need people to tell us we are pretty or we breakdown.

And we aren’t Medusa. My eyebeams would melt the mirror.

Good attempt at defence though against any other blood elf or monster it would have worked.

Have you ever had gnome, friend Thorland? You can prepare them any number of ways. You can barbecue them, boil them, broil them, bake them, saute them. There are gnome-kabobs, gnome creole, gnome gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There’s pineapple gnome, lemon gnome, coconut gnome, pepper gnome, gnome soup, gnome stew, gnome salad, gnome and potatoes, gnome burger, gnome sandwich.

You have meet your creators, you have seen creatures made of light, physical manifestations of the light; it is irrational to think the light is not real.

I think the excuse is some of them are medics.

Also… eh? The Light is real in WoW. Nothing says a Gnome can’t become curious and try to mess with it.

Ponders double negative… can’t seem to grasp full meaning. Consults autobiography for inspiration. While thrilled with stories of my own lore, I fail to comprehend meaning

this was implemented at a time where the idea of gnomes getting a tinker medic type class was a near impossibility, and so they gave gnomes priests to fill that fantasy. whack, I know, but not the worst race+class combo added. gnomes have incredible intellect and thus could pick up any magic easier than most mortal races. I would not call them fanatics or even evangelists, more than likely they see the Light not as a spiritual force but a cosmic one which they can quantify, measure, experiment with, perfect, etc. Gnome priests make more sense now than ever as they’ve definitely learned a few things from the Lightforged.
