Gnome NPCs when they have a storyline are always S-tier

Think about it… Chromie, Katy Stampwhistle, King M, Millhouse. All of them are memorable characters that as soon as you see them you know who they are. You very rarely see a gnome NPC and NOT know who they are.

How many generic humans/elves have we gotten quests from and barely remember who they are an expac later?

Gnome NPCs are S-tier… change my mind!

Lol, I’m glad too.

Gnomes exist mostly for comedy relief, same as Goblins.

But when there is a bit of story centered around them, it’s pretty fun.

Tinkmaster Overspark says: “Here’s our friend now! Cancel my meeting with Wyrmbane. I want to depart immediately!”

And there’s that other gnome, part of the expedition, that makes you retrieve his camera by going in front of a proto-drake, like right up to it’s snout lol. Only for it to wake up and send you off a cliff. And he asks if you saw his camera up there, lol.

They are so self-important that it comes off as funny again. Small gnomes, big egos.

Would a full gnomereagan expansion save WoW?

I mean… it couldn’t hurt.

What a smart and sensible post. I applaud you, sir.

While I admit those names are lovely, and not being rabid anti-gnome, every time they deploy an alliance gnome force in some exoskeleton or helicopter as part of a quest – I completely forget them in seconds.

I’m gonna go with Millhouse and Millificent S-tier, but other gnomes are A-tier.

why thank you… though I was half expecting a  “well AWKSHULLY Chromie is a dragon not a gnome” somewhere in the responses.

Not by me, I take a gnome where I can get one! LOL!

I think my favorite gnome is the one in the Before the Storm novel.
The goblin and gnome romance was genuinely adorable and is one of the few ‘divorced and remarried’ stories ive seen in fiction.

can’t forget about the greatest gnome hunter and bodyguard ever, Addie Fizzlebog. if you haven’t done it go do her questline in Highmountain. it’s awesome.

Chromie is my absolute favorite character, but I also love seeing Gnomes featured. I would love to see Gnomes allowed to be awesome at some point. Same with Goblins. Let the Goblins have a cut-scene of them firing the Azshara gun at some world-threatening entity! Let the Gnomes have their super-dimensional fortress robot that looks like something out of 40K. Heck, bring back the Vindicar too! Let all the tech races pitch-in in a cut-scene.

Sorry for getting sidetracked. More Gnomes.

What if… now stay with me for a sec… They use the giant cannon to blast the sword from Sithilus and we use the resulting hole to go into The War Within!

They are memorable mostly because they’re generally 4th wall breaking and/or seem out of place in the setting.

They can’t be Steer. That is the Tauren’s job.

I don’t care for Chromie, my fondest wish is to never hear that voice again.
Huh, I can just stop playing the game… HAH, like I would.

Been saying it for years, ANY race can have compelling stories and characters if allowed . . . hell I still think back to the mechagon comic and the dark storyline it was teasing . . .

No need to change your mind, you are correct. Your Gnome masters are here and ready to lead you into the future. GNOME MASTER RACE!

Mechatorque did some real messed up stuff. I’m surprised everyone in camp “more dark” isn’t rallying around this mad lad. I actually do want more of him, I think he’s pretty cool.

All they have to do is lean heavily into the fact that Mechagnomes are orc slaying augmented super soldiers armed with chainswords and jetpacks. They’re the 40k Space Marines of Warcraft.
