Why were they abandoned? Make glyphs to chance spell colors and animations.
Example:
A Shadow Priest Glyph that Removes the shadowform and instead gives a holy glow and a holy color to all spells.
A Warlock glyph that changes chaos bolt to a fire animation.
A shaman glyph that changes lightning bolt into ball lightning.
A Prot Paladin Glyph that allows for 1h weapons to be mog’d into polearms.
A Warrior Glyph that causes Execute show a big splash of blood.
A Warlock Glyph that changes the Felguard into a Pit Lord.
Im sure you General Chat Folks can come up with more.
I know store mounts are the big bucks, but adding in more flavor character and class customizations via glyphs to the game, can only be a good thing in my opinion.
Maybe I’m crazy but didn’t this used to be a thing? Maybe I’m thinking of the crows or something. But yes more glyphs. They don’t even need to be that big. Like I avoid doing the green fire quest on my warlock because I don’t want to always have green fire. That is 1 glyph option right there. If it is possible, it would be great if glyphs modified your fighting style to varius race’s fighting styles.
Really miss glyphs, they removed so much stuff that let you tinker with your character. Conduits are fun on the surface, but they’re just % increases and have a bit of an obvious role meta. If I use the conduits I like, such as the one that makes my owl potion do HoT instead of instant heal, I have to give up one of my 3 DPS slots. Just kinda clunky and not as interesting.
One glyph I wish they would’ve had in SL was one that allows warlocks to change the color of the blueberry to a color that matches the covenant. I think that would’ve been sweet.
My shadow priest really wants glyphs that turn Power Word: Shield and Levitate into shadowy versions. Shadow Word: Shield and Shadow Levitate.
The shield can look like that one that the Void Elves use in the Horrific Vision of Stormwind. Levitate can just borrow the shadow levitate animation from Void Form.
I remember when they added them. Honestly? Scrap the whole borrowed power system and just make glyphs relevant again. Was probably the best system we had and it was entirely player oriented.
