Glyph of Omen of Clarity Nerf Oversight

I assume the intention of the 5% physical damage reduction added to the glyph of omen of clarity was to nerf feral cat DPS.

If that is correct, as a result of the current wording, an unintentional byproduct of this nerf is that druid tanks would do 5% less physical damage while in bear form as well when using this glyph. That makes druid tanks unable to use this glyph.

If this nerf makes it to live, please reword it to say 5% less physical damage while in cat form.

You may ask why a druid tank would use this glyph. On fights where I spend half of the time not actively tanking, I will use DPS focused glyphs to help contribute to overall raid DPS.

The real oversight is making any balancing changes to the Classic version of Wrath of the Lich King.

Yes, this is on the PTR. It is also in the patch notes, with no explanation given.

Why would you need an explanation?

If they reduce the DPS for some class, the obvious explanation is “That class was doing too much dps”, yes?

Wow! Glad a stopped logging into Wrath a few weeks ago then. They should have just not made any changes to Feral at all, imo. If you’re going to make changes, then take them back, and overall make things worse, just leave them alone.

Yes, it looks like druid tanks will forgo this glyph in their bear spec.

When you pay for a service and a change is made to that service, I believe an explanation is owed.

If they included an explanation, we would have better insight as to know if they intended this change to nerf bear tanks using this glyph. Instead, we can only assume. I assume they made this change to reduce feral cat dps. If that is the case, did they realize this nerf could also affect bear tanks? I don’t think they did.

Which seems to remove some of the fun of playing a feral druid. I wonder who benefits from this change.

Can we look at this change through a lens of “This is more fun for _______” or “This changes makes the game better for _______?”

I wonder what the answers might be.

This is simply the nerf to the buff that Blizz already tried when they realized they overbuffed feral trying to remove bearweaving. The glyph was never meant for feral tanks anyway. Swap glyphs if you have to, it’s easy to do so.

Sounds like some “fun detected” nonsense, tbh. They should have just left druids alone. This is not a fun change, imo. It’s just garbage that feels bad for anyone playing feral.

I should not have to. The developers should think through their changes more and understand the full impact that they will have. One of the best parts about being a druid tank is being able to swap to cat form and do extra dps when not tanking. This glyph is an important glyph for doing damage in cat form and making the rotation fluid. I am fine with doing less damage in cat form, but I should not do less damage as a bear as a result of them trying to nerf cats.

I agree, feral did not need changes in the first place.

:100:

This is the root cause of the issue, imo.

Bingo!!! Classes were perfect as they were. It’s why we wanted to play Classic. No balance should of ever been done.

Again Blizzard misses the mark on the tuning for Feral. They really shouldnt have done any tuning to start with at this rate.

At least this doesnt nerf pvp like the naturalist nerf did.
