Glyph of Jab is out!

I just wanted everyone to know Glyph of Jab was added in 11.0.5. Number Nine Jia sells it in the old Peak of Serenity!

Yes!!! I just spent 30 minutes smacking the target dummy just enjoying my weapons being out. Even with fist weapons it looks so much better having them out constantly (except rsk and BoK sadly)

For anyone who’s confused, go to Pandaria, fly to the Peak of Serenity and talk to Zidormi. She’ll teleport you back in time and then head to the west into a cave where you’ll find Number Nine Nia who sells them for 500g.

Thank you based OP for finding this out for us … and thank you based Microsoft for finally doing something after more than 10 years about this.

Only sad news is that I don’t really like the animation they went with. I wish the animation was the racial-based special attack animation (which was what the original Jab in MoP had) instead of… well, what -that- is. But all the same, better than nothing and much better than default Tiger Palm.

I’m 99% sure the og Jab used this animation as well, it’s not something they just came up with now. I think it used play a different sound too (based on your weapon), this one still the Tiger Palm smack, but I guess it’s better than nothing

Edit: Actually I might be misremembering the animation part, but I’ve definitely seen it before at some point

It’s a little wonky looking if you’re using a staff you can hold over your shoulder (like Fu Zan or the keg staff from the trading post) but overall I’m really glad to have this finally available!

I imagine the animation with staves will be fixed eventually given that it’s basically just the Blackout Strike animation from Legion, so it’s not like it hasn’t worked before.

Yes, I was coming to point this out. For the Brewaster-type staves that go over your shoulder, instead of swinging the weapon you kind of just do an awkward-looking shoulder check. It’s like if you had a stick over your shoulder that you wanted to hit someone with, but instead of swinging it like a normal person you decided to swing your whole torso to bump them with your shoulder.

On the bright side, Shado-pan Watcher’s Keg is fixed and now goes over your shoulder the way it should.

Edit: Upon closer inspection it looks like the issue is even with 2-handed weapons you still swing both hands–they just copy/pasted the dual-wield animation. It’s more noticeable with the BrM weapons because you don’t actually move it from your shoulder, but the left hand still swings and “sheathes” an invisible weapon.

I can’t purchase the glyph, the cursor is greyed out. What am I missing?

Going there now thank you!!!

Yeah Glyph of Blackout Strike would be a fantastic thing to add next. If I’m remembering correctly the Blackout Strike animation would also work fine with a one-handed weapon so it could just be as simple as an alternative animation for Blackout Kick, like Glyph of Jab is for Tiger Palm.

My dream would be full-on staff fighting animations like we see Chen using in the Mists of Pandaria cinematic but that seems a long way off. But I just love martial arts staff fighting so much and I wish we could do more of it.

Oddly, pandaren female arms warrior with staff tmog is really close to this imo. Ive definitely played pandas purely for the two hander animations

They should have never taken weapons out of the attack animations in the first place.

Yeah female Pandaren staff/polearm animations are fantastic. I would absolutely love to see animations like that for a monk wielding a staff or polearm one day.

I found the glyph sitting on a table on peak of serenity in the cave where the big imp is trying to destroy all the scrolls, and the crane panda instructor is. During the intro to legion class hall (like 2 weeks ago) on a monk alt. Before you get moved to the turtle class hall.

Glad to see that fighting style is (sort of) a thing again for monks!

I missed the way Jab used to work.
