Glittery Quest items

I have not watched any of the streamers (nothing against them, don’t have time). A buddy and I were chatting about the game way back when and were wondering if the quest items are glittery in classic. I remember watching the mouse cursor as I would sweep the screen for objectives.

no they were not glittery. you really had to look hard for them.

I remember spending forever looking for Doomweed.

I took all of the Doomweed.

I think I would pick up Herbalism to do the quest then drop it for an alternate profession if desired.

What was the worst? Actually having to spend playtime finding things you are tasked to find?

You probably have them stashed away in your guild bank. I’m going to get even by taking all of the butter and syrup. Enjoy your drynotasgoodasfrenchtoastanyways pancakes.

Woops! Accidentally replied to myself. No. DOOMWEED! Careful on that high horse there.

You’re the worst :stuck_out_tongue: LOL In all seriousness for everyone…no the quest items in vanilla weren’t “glittery” (no freaking sparkle vampires allowed!). Unless blizz did a change to it for Classic (which in some ways that would be a change I would be ok with), then they shouldn’t be in Classic. But for some quests like Charax mentions you can use some professions to help find some things (like Herbalism for the plants and stuff like that…I think there were some that mining could help find too). Outside of that, its time to use the 2 eyes God gave you.

So officerpickpocket can help himself to free Doomweed? Oh no. It is in my safe though. Lol
I’l churn my own butter and tap a maple tree. You’re just mad because dry pancakes are better than your fwench toast.

I sometimes skipped that when I tried to level a forsaken. Hated those.

There were no visual overlays for quest objectives. No quest tracking. And generally no quest help. However, unlike later additions, Classic often had clues about quest location and the items you need to look for written into the quest text. You’ll want to read your quests for those clues, particularly the mention of cardinal directions or names of subzones.

Oh yes, Doomweed was absolutely terrible. I had to learn Herbalism to enable herb tracking and only than I managed to do this quest.

You repeatedly tripped over it while killing the zombies by the bridge as well as the pups and bats.

I remember when they added it, it was the first time I participated in a PTR. Sometime in BC I think and yeah we had people missing quest items all the time before that. Like we took a warlock with us and he never picked up the book because he didn’t know to look for it and was like “oh well whatever” and we just kept questing. So yeah, get ready to click on everything and/or read the quest well.

You mix up two quests and two sorts of weed. The one you are talking is Gloomweed. Doomweed is located to the north, near the desecrated graveyard.

Heathen.
